How would you feel if someone insults you based on your race or what do they think about you? What if someone has told you that you look like you're from the hood or from the ghetto because you're black or asks you where are you from based on your race? It can hurt your feelings and be hurtful.
Microaggressions hurt a lot of people and it's the main problem in America today. If you don't know what Microaggression is or never heard of it before, it’s mostly defined as when a person says offensive comments to others. It's usually like racial profiling, racial determination or stereotyping.
There are many types of Microaggressions likee racial microaggressions, sexual orientation microaggressions, and gender microaggressions and many more.
A lot of schools including colleges are having problems with microaggressions when students are insulting others students and want to end it as soon as possible.
According to Penn State University from last January, the school has used posters and magnets to focus on their policies to send a message so they can report the problems including microaggressions to the school.
4 years ago, a 17 year old black kid named Trayvon Martin who was shot and killed by George Zimmerman, who was a neighbourhood watcher at night in Florida. What happened was about George was complaining about a young man who was searching into the window of an empty home, so he called the cops. Then, the cops came and told him there wasn’t anyone at the house. Later, Trayvon was walking with skittles and Zimmerman was following Trayvon and thought that he was the one that broke into the house but he didn't. As he was following Martin, Zimmerman decided to shoot him when Trayvon was running away after he saw Zimmerman with a gun. Martin was killed and it went breaking news around the world. One year later, there was a trial about the incident and the judge made a final decision and made Zimmerman innocent. However, he should be guilty.
