My favorite month by far is October, but December is also pretty awesome. For one, school lets out mid-month, meaning only two weeks of the month are spent in school (however, they are some of the hardest of the semester). However, if you don't have finals or only have a few, the second week is pretty awesome because you are done with your regular class schedule and your club obligations are probably done, so you get some more time to relax and pack to go home. Here's why December is a good month:
You get to spend half of it at home, not worrying about school.
It's a wonderful feeling during that second week when your finals are over and you have finished another semester of school. It feels like forever ago that you moved in in August. Now you can go home, take a hot shower, cuddle your pets, and see high school friends. You can eat home-cooked meals and the break is much longer than Thanksgiving. You probably don't have club obligations over break, and you have a nice stretch ahead of you to recuperate and get ready for second semester.
It's cold, but not that bad compared to the rest of the winter.
While it does sometimes snow and get cold in December (depending on where you live), it is not nearly as bad as the rest of the winter usually is, meaning pretty manageable temperatures to go out and do holiday shopping and winter activities in. If you're lucky, it also snows usually minor amounts, just enough to be pretty and look nice for Christmas.
Holidays
Last but not least: holidays! Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, or something else, the magic of the time is everywhere. There is holiday shopping and deals, Christmas lights everywhere, seeing family and friends, baked goods and big meals. It is a great time of giving and receiving gifts and celebrating with those you love. Then, after all that is over, there is New Year's!
While December is not my favorite month, there is certainly a lot that goes on for a college student during this time of year, and a lot to look forward to, including the new year and a new semester ahead.
