UDance is an event like no other at University of Delaware. It is an accumulation of a year worth of efforts to raise money for the Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation, a foundation founded in honor and memory of Andrew McDonough who had died from leukemia at the age of 14. The B+ foundation takes on the Be Positive motto, both Andrew's blood type and the whole attitude of the foundation, through raising money and providing emotional and financial support to families of children with cancer. This "Be Positive" motto is founded in the foundation's roots of kids helping kids fight cancer. UDance has been fortunate enough to grasp this motto and live it in full force as it now the 5th largest dance marathon in the nation.

UDance has become more than just a community service event across campus. It has become a unifying bond as University of Delaware college students from all sectors and parts of campus life come together to support this one cause. There most likely is not one person on University of Delaware's campus that has not heard of UDance. The efforts, fundraisers, canning on streets and events litter the campus for the entirety of the year. Whether it be a small donation or a big involvement, the people on this campus back UDance like no other event, and that is why UDance has continually grown since its start in 2007 and has now cumulatively raised over $5.26 million over the years.

Ask anyone involved in UDance why they dance, and they will have an answer ready to go for you. Any person involved could probably talk your ear off as to why he/she dances, it's one of the reasons the passion behind UDance is so evident. It's single handily because of the students of University of Delaware that UDance has become what it is, a new hope every year.

So ... why do I dance?

I dance for the kids.

I dance so that one day we can find a cure.

I dance to help the families going through an unimaginably difficult time.

I dance so our B+ heroes, who have been diagnosed with cancer, know they are not alone.

I dance as a way to fight.

I dance to keep hope alive.

Come out to UDance 2017 on March 12 at University of Delaware's Bob Carpenter Center from 9:00 a.m.- 9:00 p.m. to watch this hope and positive attitude come to life.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Stop Hollywood
