To My Dad

I'm so thankful for you not only on Father's Day, but every day

As a girl and as most girls, moms are our go to when it comes to which parent we confide in the most. Moms are the ones who we call our "best friends" and our dads are the "protectors" who we all fear introducing them to our new boy friend. However, for me, my dad has always played a much bigger role in my life. We are the same people when it comes to many things. Not being able to be home for fathers day this year makes me extremely upset, but I always know that he is just a phone call away.

Thank you for calling me whenever you get bored. Even if it's a 30 second phone call about how you're sitting at home with the dog, it still cracks me up.

Thank you for all of the sacrifices that you have made for me. I know that driving all over the state for my volleyball tournaments and games probably got boring at times, but thank you for supporting me in all that I do.

Thank you for making up random songs, like to the tune of 'Timber'. Everyone in the family knows this made up one and sings it together in unity.

Thank you for listening to me. I know that I was very bullheaded when I was in high school and how I often butted heads with mom. But you were always there to talk to me and listen when all I wanted was to just talk without judgment.

Thank you for sharing your love of sports with me. I always look forward to Saturdays where I'm home during the fall where we just sit on the couch and watch football all day. Or when the NBA season rolls around and we fight every time the Cavs and Golden State play each other.

Thank you for being my biggest supporter. Moving away was never (unbearibly) hard for me because I always knew that you were only a phone call away or a 45 minute drive.

Thank you for always making me laugh, especially on the hard days.

Thank you for not only being my dad, but for being my best friend. I'm so thankful for you not only on Father's Day, but every day. I love you dad!

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
