The Reasons Behind My True Passion For Country Music

If you are a fan of country music, you will definitely be able to relate to all aspects of this article.

People often react with noises of shock and faces of disgust when finding out you enjoy the genre. Country music is hated because it conjures up images of intolerant white folks in the South who do nothing but drink beer and whiskey, ride in their pick up trucks with their dogs, and chase after tan blonde haired, blue eyed girls.

True fans really understand the deeper meaning of the lyrics though. Here are just a few reasons I have fallen in love with country music and everything it stands for.

The Celebration of Female Empowerment

Being a girl can be difficult sometimes, as you're often mistreated and given less respect and opportunities. Whether you've personally experienced such behavior towards you or know others who have, it's great to pass on empowering songs with great messages to girls and young women. The ladies of country music always exemplify the appreciation of women.

The Respect of Patriotism

Country music and patriotism have always gone hand in hand. Whether in times of war or peace, American anthems have been fan favorite country songs for decades, and there is a wide variety of country tunes that proudly proclaim the beauty and benefits of the USA.

The Practice of Religion

Why are country music and the importance of religion so tied together? It is because of the genre’s connection to the South, which is an area where religion is deeply engrained in many aspects of life. Country music markets itself as being the music of the people, and most Americans, particularly in the South, are religious, so this music speaks to them.

The Love of Family

The aspect of family life has always been important to the country community. At the end of the day it's who you have loved and who has loved you that means the most in this crazy life. Country singers have explored the topic of family relationships in every possible way. These songs are often tearjerkers.

The Appreciation of Where You Come From

Country music has no shortage of songs about small towns and growing up in the middle of nowhere. These country artists are proud of their hometowns, even if they aren't perfect. Many small town songs have similar themes involving appreciating the simpler life, close-knit communities (for better or for worse) and a loyalty that lasts a lifetime — and that’s what makes these country songs resonate with fans everywhere

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.
