Most of you have probably seen my articles floating around on Facebook, Pinterest, or Instagram. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if you've gotten a little tired of seeing them because they may seem to be endlessly circulating on your various social media platforms. Nevertheless, it may also actually irritate you that I tend to center around certain topics — life transitions, relationships, etc.
Your actual thoughts may or may not include the following: "Man, why does this girl always post stuff from Odyssey? Does she ever write about anything other than what she internalizes? Isn't a couple articles enough to get the point across? Who does she write for? How does she continue to write every single week?"
If you've ever had one of these thoughts while scrolling through Facebook or Instagram, I can't say I haven't ever not been guilty of the same. There have been plenty of times where I've questioned the intentions and actions of individuals and what they post on their pages, walls, or timelines.
But that's the thing. We all see things differently. We've all been given that gift of individuality.
And what we choose to post (whether we like to admit it or not) always goes back to what we ourselves want to get out of it as well as what we want our audience to see/experience.
So, if you want to know why I'm always posting new articles about this and that, then you'll come to find out that writing is one of the ways I've found that I can express my individuality. It's sort of my safe place--one where I can always go and not be worried about what my thoughts are thinking because they are already on the page. For me, it's a beautiful, usually effortless action because it's like my hands already know what they're going to write.
Writing permits me to process my thoughts and my feelings. The physical action of writing words on the page in front of me somehow allows me to release the ways of the world momentarily. In a way, writing lightens the burden or adds to the joy the of what I've been feeling or experiencing, and that is truly something that I treasure.
And aside from being able to express myself with words, I have the opportunity to share my material with others. To allow them to engage in a certain sort of awareness that may need to reach them. It's a way for me to express vulnerability to people I know or may never know. Either way, they get to see a side of me that they may not have seen in person.
Truth be told, I haven't been able to find anything else that does that for me.
So, there's your answer for why I continue to write — for me, for you.
And to my readers, I truly hope that you find a hobby or person that allows you to confide in it/them the way I do in writing because you'll never know how much you'll end up growing when you commit to something that makes you feel so light and safe.
