If your University is anything like mine, I’m sure you can’t remember the number of American themed parties you’ve attended thus far. All of those parties throughout the school year have led up to the most anticipated holiday for college students, the Fourth of July. What better way to say you're in college and live in America than partying all day and representing the red, white, and blue? 'Merica.
It's your chance to do illegal things.
Of course you need a permit in order to light things on fire and have them explode into the sky, but since so many people are doing it, there's less of a chance of you getting caught, so have at it.
It's your excuse to dress American themed from head to toe.
In American culture, the more red, white and blue, you wear on the Fourth obviously correlates to the amount of pride you have for your country. While for the ladies this means blue booty shorts, a red or white crop top, and knee-high socks; the guys usually take it as an excuse to wear those American flag Chubbies. So in other words, just dressing in red, white, and blue is so basic; you'll have to dye your hair, paint your nails, and draw an American flag on your face to really prove how worthy you are to be a citizen of America.
It's the opportunity to eat everything BBQ/or anything in red, white, or blue food coloring.
Because most holidays are the ultimate excuse to binge eat without judgment, the Fourth is definitely included. What better way to celebrate the day than some good old American grilling and eating an entire box of those firecracker popsicles?
It's one of the only days where it's acceptable to start partying as soon as you wake up.
Whether you go to the beach, or a lake, or just somebody’s house for festivities, you’ll usually be getting the day started much earlier than the usual mid-afternoon wake up call; so passing out in the middle of the day is unacceptable.
It's the day our country became free.
Although it may seem that this holiday is an excuse for partying and to work on that tan, we have to remember the true meaning behind it. The Fourth of July is to represent our country's independence and to thank those that made it all possible, our troops.
