Why College Isn't For Finding A Husband
VG News

College has been perceived to be “the place”. This is the magical place in which you will find your husband and start your future together. As a sophomore/junior in college, I have seen many girls base their entire college career off finding their future husband. To some young women, college is viewed as a place where you find your future soulmate, as if this were the only thing college is good for. If this were the case, college would stop giving classes on important aspects like English Composition and Political Science, and start giving classes on “How to Find a Man 101” or “Dating for the Novice.”

That being said, let me tell you that college is NOT the place to find a husband. If you are going to college just for the simple fact that you want to find a man, then don’t go. Sure, there many be some people that find their future husband, by chance, but it is not very likely. Consuming yourself with the fact that you are going to meet your future husband is quite ignorant and careless. This will cause unnecessary stress in your life.

The stress of finding someone will slowly disappear when you realize that college isn't jsut for finding a husband. There is much more to the college experience than just finding your future husband. Instead of dwelling on the idea of finding a soulmate in college, focus on growing as an individual. College is an amazing time, in which you can do this. It is a time where you can develop into the person you were meant to be. You can focus on your future and better yourself for just that. Being able to focus on yourself will help you experience an entirely new world that you didn't know existed. You have a different new perception of the world and you can make that perception on your own. You can shape your present and your future, just the way you want. Instead of dwelling on the idea of finding a soulmate in college, focus on finding yourself.

If you are meant to find a husband in college, it will happen. However, hunting for a husband is not the way to go. That is not what college is about.
