There are a so many reasons why college is better than high school, but this is just a summary of the great things to come for graduating high school seniors. High school gave you great memories, but nothing will compare to the memories of leaving home and the journey that awaits you in college.
You get to start fresh. Any bad vibes you had in high school or mistakes are all gone and forgotten. You can now be the best version of yourself with your brand new beginning.
College is the middle ground after high school before you truly have to enter the real world. It gives you time after high school to adjust to being an adult and handling responsibilities. Becoming an adult in this world is pretty much a slap in the face already, so college gives you the chance to ease into it.
In college, the sky is the limit on how much you will learn! This might sound weird because you should have learned a lot in high school, but for me I was able to breeze through and my grades were just fine. In the college world, you have to study, pay attention, and ask questions. Plus, you don't have to learn about things you can't stand anymore, you get to chose your major and classes that you want to continue to pursue.
I-n-d-e-p-e-n-d-e-n-t do you know what that mean? If you are in high school, you know the definition or at least how to spell it (thanks to the song) but cannot truly fathom what the word actually entails once you leave home. In college, you are on your own and will learn how to be so much more independent. Growing up in high school, you depended on your parents for pretty much everything verses once you are in college, you are all on your own. Being independent means that you are your own authority and self-reliant, so it is an awesome thing and college helps you attain that.
All the fresh new faces to meet is another wonderful perk of college. In high school, you probably grew up with and have history with most of the people and have gotten tired of seeing some of them every day. In college, poof, their gone. Your high school friends will always hold a special place in your heart but in college, your whole new group of friends await you.
The last and pretty much most important thing is that going to college is so worth it because you are doing something that is going to better yourself for the rest of your life! As you have probably heard, getting that college degree is going to help you reach your goals in life and future career. Receiving your high school diploma is an accomplishment, but choosing to continue to work hard and expand your education, by going to college, is a true achievement.
College is a great opportunity to learn more about your self, the world, and is a gateway into learning more about what you want to do with the rest of your life. It is new and exciting and so much better than high school. Although it is a major life adjustment, going to college is an amazing and unforgettable experience.
P.S. I almost failed to mention that you don't have to ask to go to the restroom. In college, it's almost like they treat you like a responsible young adult capable of handling your own business.
