7 Reasons Why Christmas Is The Best Time Of The Year

If you're like me, and 99% of the population, you absolutely love Christmas.

Christmas time is undoubtedly the best time of the year and anyone who tries to tell you otherwise is probably wrong. Growing up, most of us loved Christmas simply because it meant getting presents and not going to school for two weeks. I thought my obsession with Christmas would fade as I got older but I love Christmas now just as much as I did when I was a 5 year old trying to sneak a glimpse of Santa Claus delivering presents.

Here's the 7 reasons why I believe Christmas is the best time of the year:

1. NO CLASSES

After finals week is over there's nothing better than laying in bed, eating junk food and watching as much Netflix as your heart desires! Conveniently, Christmas time means a pretty long break from school and responsibilities, and we finally have time to unwind from classes and do whatever we like.

2. Holiday Drinks

It might be easy to write off Starbucks holiday drinks as "basic" and pretend you're over them, but you're lying to yourself if you don't think they're the best thing ever. There's just something so satisfying about holding a red Starbucks cup and drinking something that tastes like Christmas.

3. All the Lights

I'm sure all of us have seen the houses that go crazy with Christmas lights. You know, the ones that make us wonder how anyone has enough time to put them all up or the money to pay for that electricity bill? There's nothing more fun than driving around neighborhoods with your friends and family and looking at all the beautiful houses lit up just for the occasion!

4. FOOD

As college students, most of us don't necessarily have the best or healthiest eating habits during the semester. When we're home, our parents are usually excited to finally see us again (at least for the first week) which tends to mean a bunch of your favorite foods. Even better than that, various family members tend to visit around this time which typically means your mom making all kinds of delicious treats for the whole family!

5. Christmas Activities

Figuring out what to do with friends is probably the biggest struggle of my life. Everyone hates making decisions and it's so hard to find something all your friends want to do. However, during Christmas time it's so incredibly easy to find something fun and holiday themed to do (plus, this means cute pics). There's always a ton of different Christmas activities going on around us and if you don't want to dress up and go out, baking cookies and watching Christmas movies is always a fun time!

6. Christmas Movies/Music

Classic Christmas movies are a must during this time of year. Watching Christmas movies while wrapped in a fuzzy blanket eating yummy cookies is one of my favorite things to do. On top of that, most artists usually release a Christmas album so you can hear their amazing voices singing some of the classics. I can honestly say that I've had Michael Buble's album on repeat since the day after Thanksgiving.

7. Everyone's a Little Nicer

There really is something in the air that just makes everyone nicer and more pleasant during the holidays. Being surrounded by friends and family, seeing beautiful Christmas trees lit up, and eating good food brings a special kind of joy and spreads Christmas cheer. After all, it's the most wonderful time of the year!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all! I hope you guys enjoy your break as much as I plan on enjoying mine!

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
