It's upon us again, that stretch from November until Dec. 25, the season in which giving is encouraged, trees are decorated and cheer is spread. It's Christmas Season.
Christmas is, in my opinion, the best Holiday of them all, and here is why:
Peppermint EVERYTHING
Peppermint is the official taste of Christmas. If you could take a bite of Christmas, there is no doubt it would taste just like a peppermint candy cane. Christmas season means Chick-fil-A peppermint milkshakes, Starbucks Peppermint mocha, and Peppermint bark, and of course, Candy Canes. Peppermint flavored anything and everything help make Christmas season unique and tasty, too.
Christmas Music
As much as you may pretend to dislike Christmas music, there is no denying that deep, deep down, the sound of "The Christmas Song" or "Santa Claus is Coming To Town" resonates something within you. The catchy lyrics and beats have been with us since childhood, and they are the reason for Christmas carols. Buddy the elf says it best when he proclaims, "The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear." Christmas music is only acceptable for a very limited period of time within the year, and it is part of what makes Christmas season so great.
Giving
Christmas Season is a time where it is totally acceptable to give and give and give some more. It is a chance to celebrate the people you love by thoughtfully choosing out something that will make their face light up, come Christmas morning. It's a time to show people you appreciate them, and to practice selflessness.
Traditions
Christmas traditions are part of what make Christmas season the absolute greatest. For each family, it's different. Maybe it's decorating the tree together, or driving around to see the best Christmas lights in town, or it could be snuggling up to watch Christmas Vacation (for the 10th year in a row) or it could be stealing a kiss with your special someone under the mistletoe, but whatever it is, it's a tradition that is unique to Christmas season. The traditions create memories that will be remembered when we have families of our own someday.
So don't let this Christmas season pass you by. It's easy to let it slip away through the hustle and bustle of Christmas sales and Hallmark movie marathons, but it's a season to be merry, to be jolly and cheerful. It's a season to celebrate. So dress up like an elf, play Christmas music until your ears bleed and recite "Elf" until it's finally Dec. 25.
And, Have yourself a merry little Christmas.
