People come and go into our lives everyday. We pass by millions of strangers throughout our lifetime. If we are lucky enough, we can form unbreakable bonds with these strangers. In time, we will call them our best friend. I am fortunate enough to say that my life has been blessed with more than one best friend. Whether it be from early childhood or just last year, I am thankful that I have people who I can count on to always be there for me.
A great thing about having more than one best friend is that you experience so many different personalities. It is nice to be able to have a dose of sarcasm, compassion, seriousness, silliness, and relaxed personas all at once. Whether it be the type of friendship to scream/sing along to "The Chainsmokers" in the car, or have a complex vent session about the meaning of life, I have "my person" for that. Whenever I am going through a struggle, I can get various opinions on how to work it out. It leaves me with a lot more options and keeps me open minded. I know that all of my best friends create the perfect cocktail to help keep me balanced and sane. I wouldn't have it any other way.
To my best friends I have had since childhood, we will always have a unique bond. From elementary school, to the awkward stages of puberty, to graduating high school and experiencing a taste of the real world, we grew up together. We watched as each one of us turned into the young adults we are now, and may have even helped to shape our personalities. I know that with you, I have a friend for life. Even though are lives will take us into new settings, we will always manage to keep in touch. You know how I know this? Because we always have no matter what. No amount of time or distance could change that.
To my best friends I have made in more recent years, it feels like I have known you my whole life. The bond I have with you is just as important as any lifelong friend I have had. I am forever grateful that I met you through that temporary friend, or that party I decided to go to at the last minute. You have shown me that time is not the only important factor when it comes to creating a lasting friendship and building trust. You remind me of the beauty that is the future, and that there is so much more to experience in this lifetime.
So no, I do not have one particular best friend. With all of the different personalities that have been bestowed upon me, how could I ever pick just one? I am grateful for the unique experiences you have all given me, and I could not ask for a better group of best friends. We all start out as strangers, but time and coincidence have a strange way of bringing the people we need in our lives to us. I have equal love for each and every one of my best friends, and I would not trade it for the world.
You are my person people.
