I am 20-years-old and have still never participated in casting a ballot. It's not because I am lazy, or simply don't know how to do it, but rather because I just don't care. If I'm being completely honest, I am not even registered to vote. I am no politician and do not plan on pretending to be one.
With this upcoming election there is so much controversy over the candidates, and what will happen to our country, depending on who wins, and I do feel out of the loop. At times, I do wish that I had more interest in politics, but I cannot get myself to get a grasp on the concept. I even took a politics class to try to increase my interest and knowledge.

The reason I choose not to vote, among the few of not being registered and not caring, is that I'm not educated enough. The only thing I know is what people in society tell me, and I personally believe there is so much more. There is more to the government than what we, as citizens, are introduced too. I'm not comfortable with having even a small opinion on something that I am not fully educated in.
Due to my lack of education in this concept, I cannot get myself to personally care, or even have an opinion about it. With that being stated, getting myself to vote seems pointless. My vote would only be cast because I feel as if it is my civil duty, and although it may be, it isn't fair to those living in this society with me. Having a person vote, with little education and empathy about what they're voting for, is only setting this country up for failure.
So I'm sorry that you cannot persuade me to vote democrat or republic, or even to vote at all, but I promise, it is in society's best interest.
