Cheryl Blossom from Riverdale is looked at as the villain. She's the resident mean girl trying to turn over her leaf, but there's so much more to her than her evil upbringing. For all the bad qualities she has, everyone seems to overlook the good ones. I just want to really take a look at her character and explain why she deserves more credit than she's given by fans of the show.
1. Her family is crazy.
Her family is the craziest I could think of, not to forget the fact that they're super abusive to her. She takes a lot of mental and physical abuse, as well as having to basically hide everything about her true personality in fear of her parents having more reasons to hate her.
2. Her mother resents her.
Her mom resents the fact that she has a daughter to start with, but sees her as an evil girl because she wants to take part in family traditions and make them more female-oriented. She wants to learn the family business and be the first real woman involved, and her mother hates her for that.
3. Her twin brother, and only best friend, was killed tragically.
She didn't even know how he was killed, or why, or by who.
4. Let's not forget that she was suspected as her brother's killer.
Now that has got to leave a mark on your sanity.
5. The River Vixens was the only thing she had control over.
Her family wanted nothing to do with her, and all she wanted was something she could put her name on and be proud of. More than that, something that her family and peers could be proud of her for.
6. Her mother didn't believe she was drugged and almost raped.
Her response was basically 'oh well, you know Cheryl, always getting herself into these situations, this happens a lot, I'm sure she caused it'. I'm sorry, what?
7. Then, her mother took a bribe to not talk about her daughter almost being raped.
How would you feel if your mother took money in return for your silence in that situation?!
8. Her father hung himself, and she was one of the people who found him.
Again, traumatizing.
