Dogs have always been known to be “man’s best friend," the epitome of loyalty and affection. The Golden Retriever, Black Lab, and German Shepherd are only a small number of innumerable breeds of great canines. With a toss of a ball, they will go running. At the sound of a whistle, they will bark. With a whiff of Kibbles, they will come jumping for food. Without a doubt, these pooches can make incredible companions. But what about those days when you just want an emotionless pillow to acknowledge your presence? Dogs crave attention, something that not all people have the time and energy for. Who do you go to when you just want to curl up in a blanket, buy $30 worth of junk food, and just watch Netflix? It’s times like this when we realize how much we love our feline companions. The pros of having a cat-best-friend don’t stop here though.
1. Cats will respect your space.
Sometimes you just want to be alone, y’know? Cats will maybe, maybe, stroll into your room, then realize how boring you are and crawl into the closet. They don’t really care what you’re up to; they just want a cozy spot to sleep.
2. Like your one true love should, they won't be overly excited the moment you come home.
They might not even care that you're home! You may just be the provider of food in their eyes, nothing more. But that's OK. No one likes an overly attached companion. We don't need all that clinginess all the time.
3. Need a pillow?
Once you get past the potentially deathly claws, you've got an adorable and fluffy 10 pounds of pure bliss to lie your head on. When you've had a rough day, this is exactly what you need. Just try not to crush them. They can be reused.
4. Got a hit list of people you hate? Well your cat fully supports you.
It can sometimes be hard to find someone to share dislikes for certain individuals or things, but cats will just go with it. They don't care what it is. They don't want to know. They just won't like it. What can bond people together more than their hatred for the same things?
5. Cats are like little heat pads on the go.
If you've ever pet a cat after a nap, it's like holding a large hand warmer. Also like hand warmers, if you shake them vigorously, they will begin getting warm to the touch.
6. Bored on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Vine, etc? Search: cats.
Who knows what it is about these creatures, but they seem to be able to provide endless entertainment. Put an empty box, a video camera, and your cat in a room and boom, you're set. Whether it's a video or a photo, cats will never disappoint in times of boredom.
7. Like dogs, they are very protective animals and value security in their home.
Once a cat is alert, there is no stopping it. Don't let their appearance fool you. Once you see their pupils widen, you better run. If you haven't had the pleasure of dealing with a pissed off cat, you have been blessed.
8. At the end of the day, your cat will always be there for you.
When the day comes to a close, you will always be able to go to your cat and be rewarded with love and compassion. Let them purr, nuzzle, and wrap themselves around you!
It's almost impossible to deny the fact that cats are adorable. Their constant snuggling brings undeniable happiness, I promise you that. My suggestion now? Get comfortable, find your cat (or any cat) and enjoy the wonders and benefits of cat-companionship.
