Why Cats Are Better Than Dogs

I’m aware that this is a very unpopular opinion, but I promise I can back up my preference with real facts. Clearly, I am a cat person. I grew up with four dogs and two cats in my life time, and out of all of my animals, I enjoyed my cats’ company the most. Both of my cats were rescues. The first one we adopted, Roxy, was neglected and left to die on the side of a road as soon as she was birthed. My family took her into our home and bottle fed her to health. She is now a happy eight-year-old cat who lives in our front yard and sleeps in the garage.

My second cat, Mitt, was rescued from the side of a road as well, but he was a little older when we first got him. Still, he continues to live happily and healthy in our home.

My cats are my best non-human friends. I relate to them and I admire how they interact with their environment. I think they are so fascinating and so smart. They are such cunning, rambunctious, cuddly, intelligent, beautiful and mysterious creatures. So here’s a concrete list of why cats are so much better than dogs.

They don’t need as much attention.

They can feed themselves.

Their fur is incredibly soft.

They have cute little meows, not loud, screechy barks.

They have beautifully colored eyes.

They’re super chill.

You don't need to take them for walks.

They know where the bathroom is every time and aim pretty well.

Their litter box’s are super easy to clean and maintain.

They can climb trees.

They like to use our legs as rubbing posts.

You never have to bathe them.

They are extremely photogenic.

They are the best furry little therapists.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
