Why I Can't Wait To Be A Nurse

Everyone has a calling. A calling from God. I have prayed and prayed for what seems like years to me on what my path that God has set out for me.

It all happened on a random summer day. I was driving back and forth between the doctors office to the ER for someone who is so dear to me, worrying if they were going to be okay or not. I knew then, I wanted to be a nurse. I felt driven to figure out what was wrong them and make them feel better. I knew all along what was wrong them when the doctor at the doctors office didn't.

After all that, I prayed to God if this was my calling, I prayed and asked if I was on the right path. Months and months later, here I am in the position of waiting to hear if I get into the nursing program or not.

I want to be a nurse because I want to help others, I want them to feel comfortable and not to worry when I am taking care of them. I want to feel like they are open to talk to me about anything, like I am a friend they've known all along. I never want a patient to worry when they are in my hands. But I know with the Grace of God, I can do anything in my will power to inhabit this path and make it the best of it.

I know nursing school will take a lot of hard work, dedication and time but I know if anyone, including myself, who has the desire to be great, can do anything when they set their mind to it.

Being a nurse will be so rewarding. You will have so much responsibility but don't let that underestimate you. God won't put you in a position that you can not handle. He puts you through hard positions to learn from them and to be stronger. Being a nurse, you have to be strong because there is things that you probably wouldn't imagine ever seeing. To be a nurse, you have to be courageous. You have to be heartfelt. Although, being a nurse will be hard but I know if anyone has the heart to be one, they will be extraordinary.

I can not wait to have a bond with patients that look up to me when I take care of them. I can not wait to change the world by simply just giving help and care. I can't wait to go to work every day doing something I love to do. To me, being a nurse, I will never work a day in my life. I can not wait to graduate and become a person that I always have wanted to be.

I cannot wait to be a nurse.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
