Why I Cannot Wait To Be A Big

This past week, I have become a big in my co-ed service fraternity and this coming week, I will become a big in my sorority. This is one of the most exciting adventures that will happen to me in my college career and I cannot wait to become best friends with my littles. Being a big comes with a lot of responsibilities and I am ready to take on this important role.

I have always been the oldest, so I have no problem becoming a big sister. I have always been considered the role model for my younger siblings. I was extremely excited to get bigs because I have never had an older sister, so having big sisters who I can look up to is something that I will cherish forever. That is why I am so excited to be able to be a role model to my littles.

Being able to be somebody's mentor throughout their college career is a special experience that not many people will get to have. This person does not have to be your best friend, although I hope that happens, but you still have to be a role model for them and help them get acclimated to your organization. I hope I can be the best mentor and friend I can be to my littles. I hope we can form this inseparable bond that no other duo will ever be able to understand.

While I do want to shower my littles in gifts that welcome them into their organization, I do hope that love and friendship will be the greatest give I can give. I want to be the person that is there when they are upset. I want to be a study-buddy when there are late nights and morale is needed. If they need a workout partner, I will be the one they can call. If they need to complain about their day (which don't we all) I hope I can be the first person they want to call to receive help. I hope to have late night movie nights and cozy coffee dates. I just hope I can give my littles amazing experiences that they will always remember once they are done with college.

I know how important it is to be a big sister since I already have a younger sister and brother. If my little is the oldest child or an only child, I hope I can be the best big sister ever. Ever since I received my big, I knew I wanted to become a big one day and be the best sister (or brother) I could be to these girls. I honestly can barely put my excitement into words.

Knowing I will be a big is an incredible feeling. After becoming a big for the first time on Tuesday night, it finally hit me about how important this experience is to me. I hope my littles love me as much as I love them and I hope that I can be the best role model, mentor, and sister (or brother) I can be.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
