Why Bully Breeds Are The Best

Bringing some light to some of the most misunderstood breeds.

Why Bully Breeds Are The Best

If you know me you already know that I love my dogs more than I love most people. You would also know that my family's dogs are bully breeds. These breeds of dogs are labeled wrongly and misunderstood by many. However, if you own one or know one you would know that they don’t have a bad bone and their goofy, wiggly bodies.

I have an Argentine Dogo, a Pitbull-Boxer mix and a Pitbull puppy. These breeds, especially pitbulls, have been given such a bad name. But I can assure you that these dogs are the kindest, most gentle pups you’ll ever meet. The only harm they can cause you is by kissing you to death, jumping on you or whipping you with their wagging tails. Now let me introduce you to each of our pups.

First is Nala, the Argentine Dogo. Most don’t know what a Dogo is, but they are known to be hunting dogs that typically hunt wild boar & puma, and then are known to come home and snuggle with their family. Nala is the sassiest girl who loves to be covered up with her blanket and have her armpits scratched. She is very tolerant when I or her puppy brothers annoy her and she loves giving kisses no matter what.

Second is Sarge, the Pitbull-boxer mix. Sarge is our special little guy, he loves us more than anything. Some of his favorite things are a red ball, blue ball, pink ball, tennis ball (are you noticing a trend?), and Frisbee. He is scared of his food bowl, so he eats off of his chewed up Frisbee that we call “buzzsaw”. It blows my mind that someone could be so ignorant to think that these dogs are nasty by nature. Every day is the best day of his life. We always say that he is the best hundred dollars we ever spent.

Lastly is Beau, the (goofy looking) pitbull, or as we like to call him Beau Pete. We got that poor little guy when he was only four weeks old. He has been through so much in less than a year of his life. Some of his favorite snacks include chocolate and rat poison… (No we did not give this to our dog, he is worse than a toddler I swear). His favorite things to do include following and annoying his big brother Sarge, ticking Nala off, eating, nibbling while he gives kisses, and being the cutest pittopotamus around. One of his best friends is the deer that hangs out in our backyard.

As you can see, these dogs have so much love to give when they are given so much love in return. It is not about the breed of dog, but the kind of person who raises the dog. If you don’t socialize your dog and raise them to be mean then that is exactly what they will be. However, if you give your dog love and a fair chance they will thrive. It is time to end the stereotypes and to create a better name for the dogs were never given a fair chance. It’s their time to shine, let them show you how great they actually are.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
