Why "Broad City" Is The Best Kind Of Feminism

Ilana and Abbi are the feminist heroes we need.

When my roommate first showed me an episode of Broad City, I was hooked. The show follows the lives of Ilana and Abbi as they figure out life in the city as twenty somethings, and through the hilarious situations they get themselves in.

The girls' approach to feminism is what drew me in. It was a different kind of feminism, one that felt real and behind the scenes. Unabashed and uncensored. These girls know what they want, are confident in who they are, and show women that there is nothing sexier than loving yourself and powering through life with a "f**k it" attitude.

Here are the best feminist lessons Illana and Abbi taught us.

1) Love yourself and your body

Just look at Abbi dancing butt naked in her apartment. Because why the f**k not?

2) They celebrate other powerful women

3) They aren't here to smile at your request

4) It's totally okay if you don't want children.

5) They normalize the female body

6) It's okay to make the first move.

Ilana and Abbi don't have time for guys to make the first move and neither should you.

7) Don't let men talk down to you.

If something rubs you the wrong way, you let them know.

8) They own their sexuality

9) They are career driven

10) But most importantly, they teach us what true friendship looks like. They love each other and support each other through everything.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
