Bras, the natural female enemy. If you do not feel the same way then you must be a female living in an alternative universe or a male. However, if you do not understand the struggle allow me to introduce you to a world of empty wallets and sore shoulders.
How society thinks we shop for bras.
Society creates this image where buying bras is a momentous occasion. They want women to believe that it is their right of passage into womanhood to go into Victoria Secret and buy an overpriced piece of fabric. Newsflash, bras are boob-holders, you are telling me as society that I need to spend at least $30 on a boob-holder? What's the truth about buying bras? If you are a first time bra buyer it might be overwhelming going into Victoria Secret and trying to figure out what size you are, what style you want and how much you want to spend.
How the media sexualizes bras.
People, they're literally boob holders. Women suffer from this never ending circle where we are shamed if we don't wear a bra because then you can see our nipples but we're also shamed when we do wear them and you can see a strap.
No matter how well they fit, it's never perfect.
We've all been there. The awkward adjust the bra because the underwire is stabbing your side and the amount of pressure is causing your boobs to sweat. The worst part is that you have to pretend to be discreet about it because God forbid anyone knows you're wearing a bra, even though it's completely obvious because no natural boob looks like that. I know I'm exhausted just talking about this.
"Aren't Sports Bras Comfortable?"
Yes sports bras have no underwire but now your boobs are being squished awkwardly and they really don't have any support so you much as well just not be wearing a bra. Not to mention that they're still very expensive. Why am I spending all this money on something that I'm going to sweat through and wash all the time?
Taking it off is the best part of the day.
I hope my fellow bra users can agree with me on this one, taking off your bra at the end of the day is a better feeling than pizza on your period. After a day long of suffering from sore shoulders and awkward under boob sweat there is nothing better than coming home and taking your boob holder off and throwing it on the ground where it belongs.
It baffles me why people who identify as women are shamed for having a nipple when people who identify as men are not. There is so much vitality that the female breast provides that we shouldn't be shamed if we want to go around with no bra on. We shouldn't have to be uncomfortable solely because our body is only viewed in a sexual way.
