My Boyfriend Is My Best Friend And I Wouldn't Have It Any Other Way

When it comes to high school and college-aged girls and their boyfriends, it seems like it is frowned upon that a girl's best friend is her boyfriend. Personally, I don't understand this because my boyfriend is my best friend and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Of course, I have my girlfriends and sorority sisters, and I love them just like they were my sister but the one person I can tell absolutely anything in the world to is my boyfriend. He and I are so similar, we can completely be ourselves and we don't have to worry about the other one judging. As a girl its hard to build that kind of trust with someone, or at least it is with me.

My boyfriend works 60 hours a week and is a Marine reserve back in our hometown. I am a full-time college student with a part-time job two hours away, so the time we get with each other is limited. When we both are in the same place though, we are inseparable and have been ever since we met the first day of our senior year.

All throughout our senior year, we constantly hung out and were doing things together, from watching movies at my house to going to the mall and our most frequent stop, going to our local Dairy Queen for five buck lunches. Not to mention I went to all of his football games and wrestling meets and he went to all of my soccer games so we could support each other in our activities

We do practically everything together now, even the most boring of things. We workout together, run errands together and even grocery shop together. Those are mostly because I hate working out and when he grocery shops alone he comes back with a lot of junk food. But more importantly, we're doing these things together because we genuinely love spending time together and want to be together as much as possible.

Although we live two hours apart and only get to see each other every other weekend, we are still extremely close. Every time something happens to one of us we are the first person the other tells. My boyfriend even bought an apple watch because he didn't want to go four to six hours not talking to each other while he was at work.

How much he loves and cares about me and genuinely wants to know things about me is exactly why my boyfriend makes the perfect best friend.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
