Black Friday has become an annual tradition where consumers take on the large crowds in malls and superstores.
However, it seems that it was not good enough for stores to open early in the morning eventually the need for more money pushed store opening times to midnight on Thursday. Now stores are opening as early as 6:00 pm on Thanksgiving Day. It is one thing for most customers who celebrate Thanksgiving to decide to cut it short just to shop, but no one really thinks about the workers who also have to give up the day with their family. Stretching Black Friday back to Thursday evening puts much more stress on employees because most of the time the stores don`t even close during that time. Although the deals are good is it really so dire that we can`t wait 6 more hours to get them?
Even though Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful and be with one`s family that doesn`t seem to carry over on their adventure to the stores. There is so much irritation and aggressiveness during this shopping day that it truly takes away from the spirit of the holiday. One whole Friday in these brutal shopping conditions is hard enough to handle.
So if you do decide to go out on Thanksgiving just keep in mind:
- although you chose to be there, the workers had no say in the matter so treat them with kindness because it is a holiday.
- Don`t complain about the line. There twice as many people in the establishment than any other day. You know what you were getting into when you went out, the employees are trying their best.
