Let's get Ziggy with it.

Why BGSU Homecoming Is The Best

It's that time of year again...put on your best (and warmest) orange and brown apparel, spike your hot chocolate and hold those #TalonsUp. Everyone's favorite weekend of the fall semester, BG homecoming!

Much like many other things, BGSU homecoming is better than any of our neighboring colleges (*cough* Toledo) and here's why:

1. Tailgating.

BG prepares well in advance for the all day fiesta the Saturday of homecoming weekend. Students and other attendees park their cars the night before to reserve a spot and show up that next morning bright and early ready to celebrate. Everyone, and I mean everyone comes out to tailgate and celebrate. One of the best parts is our alumni and parents always hooking it up with tents, trailers, grills and trucks. This year tailgating was so rowdy at one of the spots that the police were arresting people. Even in handcuffs, once a falcon, always a falcon...right?

2. The Alumni.

Whether they just graduated this past May or are part of the class of 1995, nothing is better than seeing a past falcon face return to one of the best small towns in the country. Seeing the pride and excitement that they carry when returning to our campus, football field, and downtown strip makes us current students even more proud to still experience everything Bowling Green has to offer. Plus, the alumni tend to bring better quality beer, so that's a plus.

3. The Football Game.

If you haven't celebrated too hard and can still make it to the game, the BG support continues from the stands. BGSU's Falcon Football team had a 59-10 win over the University of Akron. Our newest homecoming king, Austin Flores, and queen, Maren Legg were crowned during halftime. Also, the football players wore special helmets in honor of Military Appreciation Day. Even if you're not typically a football fan, you still find yourself with no voice after the game is over.

4. The Bars/Parties.

Everything. Is. Packed. Don't wait too long to run to Kroger to buy your alcohol of choice for the night, or it's already sold out. If I were you, I'd even buy Mister Spot's in advance that night and save it for later to warm up when you get home, or reserve your favorite table at Corner Grill. And, no, you did not somehow end up in Times Square on News Years Eve, you are indeed still at Brathaus, every alumni's favorite bar. This small town can only handle so many people, but we make it work. Seeing adults that could be your parents' age out at your favorite bar isn't even weird during homecoming, it's simply part of the circle of life. Remember that once you're graduated and come back to relive glory days, you will not care how these young whippersnappers are looking at you, you're just trying to drink your Legal Joint and enjoy yourself.

As always, BGSU's homecoming was definitely a success this year. Sure, you're probably now broke, hungover and might possibly have frostbite from day drinking in 35-degree weather, but if all of these above reasons weren't worth it, then you are certainly not falcon awesome.

The first two weeks of classes have come to an end and they have been anything BUT easy. It seems like life has been serving up more bad than good and in all honesty, the only thing you want to do is crawl under your covers and hide from the rest of the world.

Although this seems like the best solution, it is also the easy way out. Take it from the girl who took basically a whole week off from her life because she just could not handle everything that was being thrown at her. This caused her to feel extremely lonely and even more stressed out for being behind in classes that JUST began.

11 Things We Learned From Brooke Davis

"What's more important? What we become or how we become it?"

Brooke Davis

"She was fiercely independent, Brooke Davis. Brilliant, and beautiful, and brave. In two years she had grown more than anyone I had ever known. Brooke Davis is going to change the world someday, and I'm not sure she even knows it." - Lucas Scott, An Unkindness of Ravens

Brooke Davis of the hit show One Tree Hill was the it girl - she had it all, or so we thought. She started out as a stuck-up, shallow, spoiled, head cheerleader who didn't have her life together. She slept around a lot and loved to party - sounds like your typical high school teenager right? Wrong. B. Davis had so much more to offer. Caring, loyal, and outspoken, she has taught us some valuable lessons throughout the 9 seasons that OTH was on the air:

We all have a person, and when that person makes some new friends, we tend to forget all the great things that can come out of it. Never forget how special they are to you and why you are best friends.
