Like always, Beyonce has taken social media and the news by storm when she surprised the world with the HBO visual album for “Lemonade.” This album has everyone feeling many different things and it seems to be answering the two year question of “Why exactly did Solange beat up Jay-Z in the Standard Hotel elevator?” Beyonce’s new album came out just in time for her highly anticipated Formation World Tour and it has fans rushing to learn the lyrics of every song so that they can sing along with the queen herself. While “Lemonade” talks about cheating, and heartbreak; it also talks about real issues such as the “Black Lives Matter” movement and just the celebration of being African-American and embracing your roots and your heritage. I believe out of all of Beyonce’s albums, this one is the most influential and here is why I believe that:
1. It’s raw.
Beyonce put everything out there and expressed her pain for different situations in such a raw and genuine sense.
2. Black Lives Matter.
Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown and Eric Garner, three people whose lives were taken by the hands of police officers, were commerated in Beyonce's visual album. Beyonce also featured the mother’s of the fallen, Sybrina Fulton, Lezley McSpadden and Gwen Carr in her video for the song “Forward" featuring James Blake. Beyonce is raising awareness to serious matters that so many people are turning away from. #Blacklivesmatter
3. She’s not sorry.
Beyonce's saying how she feels and she's not sorry about it so either hop aboard the Bey-Hive train, or sit down and shut up. #boybye
4. She's celebrating black culture and her African-American roots.
Through every cut scene in Beyonce's visual album, you see black culture somehow being recognized. She even had cameo appearances by Amandla Stenberg, Zendaya Coleman, Serena Williams and even Winnie Harlow, a model with vitiligo. #Blackmagic
5. She put everything on the table
Constantly, we hear jokes about never knowing what's going on in the Knowles-Carter household because the paparazzi can never get close enough to them to invade their privacy. With this album, we got the VIP access into Beyonce's life. She let the world know she was hurting and just exactly why she felt this type of pain.
6. Her anger is so relatable
She's calling people out, subliminally, but who ever her 'Becky' reference is about, i'm sure they got the hint.Beyonce talks about the infidelities of Jay-Z and her dad, Matthew Knowles, two men she cares for deeply. When Beyonce says, "If you try this sh** again, you gon lose your wife" in the song "Don't Hurt Yourself" and "You remind me of my father, a magician, able to be in two places at once." It shows that these two men cheated and caused her great pain due to their infidelities.
7. She's supporting the LGBT community and highlighting interracial couples at the same time!
Not only is Beyonce supporting black lives, she's supporting the LGBT community and showing people love is love no matter what race, gender or sexual orientation you are.
8. She's showing people that even though she's mad, she's also forgiving.
In the song, "Reformation" Beyonce and Jay-z share a very intimate moment showing that through everything they just went through, Beyonce is willing to forgive him for the sake of their love. Don't think Beyonce is giving in though, don't forget all the songs she made about her leaving if it happens again.
9. She's portraying independence in women.
In Beyonce's song "6-inch" featuring the Weeknd, she talks about how she works for all the money she has. This whole song is about being a boss ass bitch and being nothing less. She walks in the club with 6-inch heels on and she couldn't care who's watching because she knows she looks the best. Continue to pave the way of confidence for women Beyonce! #weslay
Beyonce has once again gotten the Bey-Hive into formation and blessed us with her stripped down and honest album, "Lemonade." Congratulations Beyonce, continue to slay
