I have seen one too many posts accusing Beyoncé of being selfish and wanting attention from her pregnancy. People are saying that she believes she is entitled to everything and that her embracing and showcasing her pregnancy is just absurd.
While I understand where these arguments are coming from, I also disagree with them.
I for one am very happy to see Beyoncé share her pregnancy. Every woman has the right to celebrate their pregnancy how they want to. Being able to carry and eventually birth a child is a blessing that so many women unfortunately cannot experience. Beyoncé is no stranger to the challenges that many women face while attempting to start a family, and there are many reasons why she has the right to be happy about her pregnancy and share her journey.
She faced a miscarriage
In her documentary Life is but a Dream, Beyoncé shares personal video of her going through her first pregnancy. She exclaims how excited she is and how maternal she is feeling. Later in the documentary, she shares another personal video of her saying she went to her check up to hear the heartbeat, but there was no heartbeat. Without a doubt, facing a miscarriage is absolutely painful for any woman, famous or not. On her self titled album, Beyoncé wrote the heart wrenching song "Heaven" for the child she lost to help cope with the pain she was feeling.
She has been struggling to conceive
It is reported that prior to the announcement of her most recent pregnancy, Beyoncé and husband Jay - Z have been struggling to conceive for quite some time. Because of this, the couple decided to try in-vitro fertilization. Even during this trial, things seemed to not be working, and the couple eventually gave up. Eventually, they were surprised with the discovery that she was pregnant with twins.
She is human too
Although she has built quite the empire for herself and her family, Beyoncé is human just like the rest of us. Just because someone is famous does not mean they do not face challenges and have heartbreaking moments. When it all comes down to reality, we are all the same skin and bones. Being famous does not mean you live a perfect life and are immune to any challenge or discomfort.
Every woman deserves to celebrate their pregnancy how they desire to, whether famous or not. Those who spectate should be happy for those who are expecting because life is a beautiful gift. We may think creating life is an easy task, but in many cases, it is not.
