Why Beverly, MA IS A Great Place To LIve

Have you ever really thought about your hometown and what it means to you? From the moment we could recognize where we were, some of us immediately fell in love with where we call home while it took others to recognize their love for the place they have grown up almost their whole lives. For many of us, our hometowns were and still are a familiar place that we can always go back to at any time. It doesn't matter how far away you may be from where you grew up, as distance is no match for the place that you called home for the very first time. For me, home has always been in Beverly, Massachusetts. This suburb which is North of Boston, and lies right next to Salem has become a place that I'll always be proud of.

1. Growing Up Right Near the Water

Ever since I was a little girl, I have always loved the water and being by the ocean. I have been extremely lucky to live in a suburb that is so close that I have never questioned what it's like to go swimming in the ocean.

2. We're so close to the best beaches on the North shore

Good Harbor and Wingaerhseek are two beaches that I have grown up going to. Located just 20 minutes from Beverly, my Summers never and still don't lack any trips to the beach.

3. Lynch Park's Rose Garden

The most popular spot for senior prom pictures as well as many wedding photo opportunities. By far, on of the most beautiful spots in Beverly. A place where family and friends gather to capture the moments that they will remember forever.

4. The best restaurants

Beverly is home to some of the best spots for a night out. There's a variety including Indian, Thai, Japanese, and so much more. Many locals don't need to venture far for a great meal.

5. College-town feel

With prestigious schools such as Endicott College and Monserratt College of Arts being located in Beverly, there is definitely that college-town feel. Once you get closer to the downtown area, you're bound to see many college students roaming about which makes Beverly that much more enticing.

6. Natural beauty

With gorgeous waterfronts, and the Beverly Farms area having such a rural look, Beverly doesn't need much to enhance its beauty.

7. A kid friendly town

Home to many parks, great school districts, and plenty of child friendly places, Beverly is definitely the place to raise a family. Growing up, there's no doubt that your child will have many friends in his or her neighborhood to play with.

8. Traveling is made easy

With five commuter rail stations and easy access to route 128, Beverly offers a hassle free commute to wherever you may need to go.

9. Just a short ride to the city

With Beverly being just roughly under 30 minutes North of Boston, it's easy to go to Boston for the day. Whichever way you choose to go, a resident of Beverly is able to enjoy their day in Boston without worrying about a long commute.

10. Ranked #1 place to live in Massachusetts

With a variety of restaurants, local attractions, and tons of activities for children, Beverly is the place to live. Life here isn't too fast paced, but it's also not too slow where you have absolutely nothing to do.

11. Great sense of community

Residents of Beverly will often gather together for one cause that has touched their hearts in one way or another. We're all here for one another.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
