Why I Believe In The Power Of Positivity (And You Should Too)

Positivity. Defined by Merriam & Webster as, "thinking about the good qualities of someone or something: thinking that a good result will happen: hopeful or optimistic." I believe that positivity is something that everyone should strive to keep in their lives. I know that it is often easier said than done, but once you let it in your life, you'll begin to see changes.

I have a lot of problems at the moment. In fact, these last four years of my life have been the toughest ones I have yet to experience. There have been moments when I wanted to drop out of school, give up, or just run away from everything I was facing, only to realize that I couldn't. There was no way for me to run away from my problems but I didn't want to let the bad feelings take over to the point of where I couldn't come back. Soon, I began to see this as encouragement. Encouragement to keep going on. If you can't run away from your problems, then the best thing to do is to face them headfirst. Don't let it get to you. I don't believe that one should stay focused on the negative because the negative is already there. It will most likely be there for a while and by continuing to focus on it, you are kind of extending its stay in your life. A way to make sure it doesn't stick around is to focus on positivity and on doing whatever you can to make the situation better for you.

I like to stay happy and think positively because there already is so little happiness in this world so every moment you can spend happy, is a moment less of sadness. Next time you're feeling down, think of what could make it better. If nothing comes to you, then take some time for you to just "be." Listen to your favorite artist, read your favorite book, meditate or just do anything that will get your mind off of what's making you sad (providing it be legal and not harmful to yourself or any others). I don't believe in hiding from your problems, but do think that sometimes you just need to give yourself some time. After you have relaxed, then I think that the solutions and answers that you've been looking for will appear. Maybe not all at once, or all together, but eventually you will get through this. I like to believe that by giving yourself more reasons to be happy even when everything seems dreary, you are helping yourself feel better. You become stronger because you learn to deal with hard times and understand that you need to get through them because that's life. It may not be fair, but it doesn't mean you can't try to make it as good as you can.

My life isn't perfect, probably no one's is. We all have struggles, bad things happen, feelings of loneliness and other negative emotions rise. When one is knocked down, getting back up can be just about the hardest thing in the world when it's that much easier to stay down. But you shouldn't because no matter what, you have the ability to remain positive. You have the power to bring some positivity in your life, no matter the form or the size. You have the power to keep going on even when you feel like what you're going through it the end all, be all. You can and will get through this. Just a little positivity can make all the difference.

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
