Why I Believe The Paranormal Exists

Call me crazy, but I believe in the paranormal.

It has been normal to question where one goes when they die. Entire civilizations throughout history have created myth based on this question. Whether it be a concept like the Egyptians, who built their entire culture around the after life, or in modern times where people try to avoid it altogether, the paranormal is a real topic. Here are reasons why I believe in the paranormal.

1. There's Way Too Many Stories To Back It Up

Sure, there are people out there who seek attention, but what about the ones who are telling the truth? There have been many accounts of people who have experienced paranormal activity. Many of these accounts have made it onto television or even made into films. One of the most famous paranormal research couples in history are Ed and Lorraine Warren, a married couple who have investigated many major paranormal cases. Recently their stories have been turned into major Hollywood blockbusters known as The Conjuring Film Series. The Films, The Conjuring, The Conjuring 2, and Annabelle all account what could be argued as the Warren's most famous cases. You can read the real story behind Annabelle here.
While some will argue the Warren's weren't genuine in their investigations, it is evident they strived to educate people on the dangers of the paranormal. Lorraine continues to use her profound knowledge to keep the education of the paranormal world on the mainstream, even keeping their occult museum open to visitors.

2. It' Selfish To Think We Are Alone
As humans, we tend to forget we're not the only ones on this earth. There are things we have yet to discover, and there are things we will never understand. Our sense of superiority trumps all knowing...until we face something we don't understand.
As a person who has experienced multiple paranormal encounters, I've learned to accept that I'm not alone on this earth. As far as I know, I could be the ghost everyone is afraid of. We will never fully know who else walks among us, but, there have been some who have walked among the afterlife.

3. Accounts Of People Who Have Faced Death
Combining both my first and second points, there have been people who have faced death. They even managed to come back to the land of the living to tell about their encounter. One famous account of this, was told by a ten year old girl named Anna. Suffering from an illness by the name of pseudo-obstruction motility disorder, Anna begins to struggle with complications of the illness leaving her unable to eat. One day Anna climbs a tree with her sister, only to fall through it down three stories, sending her into a near fatal state. Waking up from this near death experience, she begins to show signs of no illness, having been cured by her fall. Or was it the fall?
Many would say that this wouldn't be categorized as "paranormal", but to me it is. The definition of the word alone states that, events beyond the scope of scientific understanding is paranormal. It is stories like this that prove the paranormal world exists.
This story would be turned into a book, and then into a movie titled Miracles From Heaven. While faith played a major role in Anna's miracle, this was indeed a paranormal experience, giving her an amazing story to retell in her successful book.

4. We Always Have A "Sixth" Sense
Even though our egos can get the best of us, making us believe we are the most superior being on earth, all of us can retell a story about a time when we felt like we were being watched. It's that tension in the room, a room of which we are all alone in, making us feel uneasy. Looking around we sense something is with us, but we can't see it. This is our sixth sense.
Sure, we can talk about the Bruce Willis film, but for the authenticity of the term I won't mention it in detail. There always seems to be something out of the corner of our eye that catches our attention, but we brush it off as nothing. Or how about when we place something on the table, but it's not there when we go to pick it back up. What do you do? Brush it off? See, we know what we saw, but we can't explain it so it's ignored. We don't want to be perceived as crazy, so we don't mention it. What if you're not crazy? What if there is another world having some fun with you?

5. I've Seen It With My Own Eyes

Seeing is believing, but terrifyingly so when it happens to you.
I was about nine, and I was visiting my grandma. It was a sunny day in June, and I was outside playing in the yard. Not too far from the front door, within my grandma's sight, I noticed a black figure about twenty feet away from me. Half hidden behind a parked car in the neighbors yard, this figure had human like movements. This was a human figure, about the size of an average height man, but it was solid black. I couldn't see a face, or any features for that matter, so I took a few steps forward to get a better look. Before I could go any further, my grandma came out side and told me to go in. She looked rather worried. Compliant, I went inside, not looking back.
A few years later I was watching the Travel Channel during their Halloween week, and something caught my eye. It was a show about the paranormal, and stories of people who had experienced the unknown. One of the stories mentioned something known as shadow people. My jaw dropped to the floor. I had seen a shadow person! Everything about the description was spot on, and instead of scaring me away, it intrigued me. My grandma refused to talk about what we had seen that day, but I'm convinced of what I saw.
To lighten the mood, here's Shane Dawson talking about what shadow people are. While this encounter didn't happen to me while I was sleeping, the accounts are still silimar to what I witnessed.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
