Humans are social creatures. We depend on one another for support, comfort, acceptance, love and more. Wolves work in the same way as they congregate in packs to work together towards one common goal: survival. Cliques and packs are a definable tactic in terms of receiving approval from others to increase one’s own confidence. The praise that others feed us simply causes us to feel satisfied with ourselves. Many are eager to find their place in a group because of all the benefits it presents, but some may find themselves wandering into the unknown, fulfilling the role as a lone wolf.

In order to succeed as a lone wolf, one must understand the position does not necessarily mean the individual is alone, but they do not feel inclined to be a part of a clique. Anyone who embodies the lone wolf is given an array of hidden advantages that a group does not possess. As the lone wolf, they realize that there is no need to impress others other than their own self. If own is confident in their abilities as a human being, they do not seek the love that many depend on from other people’s opinions. They avoid and are fearless of judgment over their actions as they do not have to interfere with the criticism a group of people may impose. Packs do not provide the intimate and more meaningful friendships that may come between a pair as it is more difficult to connect with one another when surrounded by so many other people to communicate with.

Also, group mentality may influence an individual to become susceptible to peer pressure, which is detrimental upon one’s own true identity. If one is surrounded by the same, straightforward interests, they will fail to achieve their own self as they will not truly know what they love unless they make time for their own sake. Alone time allows one to venture down different paths and undergo adventures that stand out from the crowd. One who is the lone wolf, will be identified as an individual rather than become associated with a group. Many false judgements arise when people discuss members of different cliques, but this is less likely as one’s wrongdoings will not affect those who are not tied to the group they belong to.

Holding relationships is a necessity in life as it is definite we, as humans, cannot make it without the help and solace our friends shelter us with. The lone wolf is simply a creature who seeks time for themselves, for as many people they may have have the blessing to cross paths with, or both. The lone wolf is neither a negative or a positive way of life as it is simply not the rule of thumb everyone must follow. Although it may seem like a poor choice to handle life with, if it is seen through an open window and held with a glass that is half full, maybe the experiences a lone wolf may possess are not so bad after all. In the end, the wolf who howls alone will be heard over any member that attempts to stand out from their pack.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
