Why Being Pro-Life Is Being Pro-Human

Life is sacred at any stage, at any time, in any place.

I am pro-life.

I believe that life begins at conception, and that the act of abortion is wrong. I believe that every child (and adult) has a glorious purpose and is immensely loved by a gracious and mighty Creator. I believe that every person in this world and those preparing to enter it, deserve a chance at life.

I also believe that women are mistreated in our society. Women are not paid the same as men for equal work. They are just barely being represented accurately in the arts, and are starting to contribute greatly in politics and our state/national government despite the fact that women have been the stronghold of this nation before and since its founding. I believe that there should be more support for single mothers and for expecting mothers who have no idea what to do or where to turn. I believe that a woman is just as important as the child she is carrying and/or the child she has given birth to.

My pro-life stance far extends past children and women. I believe in gun control and immigration reform. I ache for the Black and LGBTQ communities who are hurting because of terror and hate. I am against the death penalty. I believe that our nation should provide welfare for those who need it.

In other words, being pro-life is being pro-human. I do not advocate solely for children, but for the entire human race. I stand for every person who isn't being treated with dignity and respect, and I do not condemn hatred or violence in any form or for any reason. It is important for those who advocate against abortion to realize that life does not end when a child is born; it is just beginning. It is our job as activists and a community to make sure that we are doing everything in our power to make this world a place where women feel empowered to have children, not scared. It is our job to teach women that motherhood does not make one weak, or diminishes their ability to do great things. It is our job to make sure that when we advocate for adoption, it is possible and not causing potential parents to jump through a million hoops. It is our job to provide schools with accurate Sex Ed.

I am pro-life and pro-human. You will see me walking for life in D.C., and reaching out my hand to a homeless man on the street. You will see me standing for gun legislation and you will see me ensuring that everyone around me feels loved and respected, even if I don't agree with them and vice versa. You will not see me standing for anything that contradicts life, in any form and at any stage. I am proud to be pro-life and to fight for a cause that affects this world so heavily. I am also proud to be pro-human, and to know that one can be both.

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
