Why Barney Stinson Is the Best Character On 'How I Met Your Mother'

"SUIT UP."

You guessed it, it's the one and only Barney Stinson. No matter how ridiculous Barney acts on the show How I Met Your Mother, he never fails to crack us up as we watch Ted search for "the one" for nine seasons. From playing "Have You Met Ted" to making up bizarre lies to get with girls at the bar, Barney Stinson makes How I Met Your Mother one of the best shows of all time.

1. He is always up for a challenge.

Due to Barney's competitive nature, he feels the need to do ridiculous tasks in order to prove his friends wrong. A few of Barney's challenges are as follows: get a girl's number while talking like a dolphin, do a split in mid-air, pick up a girl while talking like a little boy, get a girl wearing overalls, talk his way out of a speeding ticket, high-five the moon and many many more.

2. Barney never fails to dress himself nicely.

One of Barney's famous quotes is "Suit Up." Barney explains that suits give him his confidence as he takes on the world. Barney always wants Ted to suit up with him for big nights out, but fails to get Ted to cooperate. Barney has special suits consisting of his green suit, Halloween suit, pajama suit, and "The Dibiase" (suit with diamonds).

3. He loves to party.

Barney is always down to go to the club, especially to pick up some hot chicks. When Barney is around, he is the life of the party and our favorite source of entertainment. His nights never go as planned, but since he is "suited up," he knows his night will be LEGEN-WAIT FOR IT- DARY.

4. He actually has a heart.

As much as we believe that Barney will say absolutely anything to pick up a girl, he does love the people that are meaningful in his life. Barney marries Robin for some time and we see a soft side of Barney that we didn't know existed. Despite Barney's insane actions, Barney does come full circle in our hearts.

5. He is girl crazy.

Barney will do absolutely anything to get a girls number. Below are some of Barney's top quotes about girls: -“Girls are like cartons of milk. Each one has a hotness expiration date and you've hit yours. I'm not saying the occasional guy won't still go to the fridge, open you up, take a sniff, shrug and take a sip anyway: but it's all downhill from here.” -"Don't even get me started on girls whose name should end in "ly", but instead end in I. Those girls are like roller-coasters. You've got to wait in a long line, but once you get up there, you just hold on for dear life and hope you don't lose your keys." -"How do you keep a girl from becoming a girlfriend? The rules for girls are the same as the rules for Gremlins. Rule 1: Never get them wet; in other words, don't let her take a shower at your place. Number 2: Keep them away from sunlight; i.e., don't ever see them during the day. And rule number 3: Never feed them after midnight; meaning she doesn't sleep over and you don't have breakfast with her, ever!"

6. He is not afraid to say what's on his mind.

Barney will stick up for his friends, and speak for what he believes in. (most of the time it's for the greater good) Barney will always be our favorite character because he is just flat out hilarious and his personality never fails to bring us on a wild ride throughout NYC. We should all aspire to be as open and adventurous as the one and only Barney Stinson.

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
