Why A Bad Day Is Not The End Of The World

In life, no matter what or who you are, bad days are inevitable. Whether it was the fact that you got into a fight with your friends or something happened at school, bad days can make you feel as if your world is crumbling.

But to think that in life every single day you experience is going to be a good one is unimaginable, and in fact a bad day can be a reminder of what a good day actually feels like.

I feel as if we go through times in our lives that we feel that we are just continuously struck with bad luck. Whether this continues for a few days, few weeks or few months, it can feel as if it is a life time. While it may feel as if these bad days are the worst things that could happen to us, it can also serve as a time to take a step back and really ask ourselves if our lives are so “bad” after all.

In reality, most of the time the situations we consider to be bad for us are small events in our lives that are going to subside when life continues to change and move on. But usually we get caught up in the fact that we feel as if these events are bigger than what they are, and we tend to look past the fact that we still have positive aspects of our lives as a whole regardless of what is going on at this time.

The point in the matter is that a bad day(s) is a stitch in time, and it’s not going to last. As cheesy and over used as the quote “It’s a bad day, not a bad life” may seem, it’s unequivocally true. The hard times facing you now are not going to matter in the next weeks, months and years to come. It’s easier to say to just preserve through bad days rather than actually doing it, but keep in mind everything you should be lucky to have instead of focusing on the bad in your life.

A time in your life that doesn’t go exactly the way you want it to should not ruin the way you look at everything else. So what if you got one bad grade? Or so what if you got into an argument with your friend? It’s going to pass and life is going to move on, and you’re going to get through it. And those bad days that you experience will be a thing of the past compared to all of the days in your life that everything is actually going the way you want it to and you won't even remember the way you felt on the days you felt as if your life is upside down.

So instead of looking at the bad days you experience as completely negative, remind yourself that it’s just a time in your life that requires a little more preservation than usual. Keep your head up and enjoy the ride we call life, because there are many more better days ahead of you.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
