If you've never listened to an audiobook, you're seriously missing out.
As a big reader, I never thought that I would be the "type" to enjoy being read to and I wasn't sure how I'd feel about not being able to see the text of the book in front of me. However, on long road trips back and forth from Philadelphia to Wake Forest, they're the best way to pass the time; and as a result, I've grown to become quite a fan.
While audiobooks certainly don't replace the act of actually reading the book, they do make for the perfect alternative form of entertainment when reading just isn't an option.
Whether you're driving in the car, doing cardio at the gym, or simply cooking in the kitchen, audiobooks make ideal companions when you're by yourself or perhaps not in the mood for music.
Another added bonus is that if you're subscribed to Spotify or AmazonPrime, there are a lot of audiobooks readily available to you within seconds that you can stream to your phone.
But if you don't fall into one of those two categories, fear not! Audiobook CD's are shockingly unpopular at Wake Forest's ZSR Library so they have a huge selection that you can choose from to rent and listen to in the car while road-tripping home during breaks! And if you're really lucky, you might even find an audiobook that's recorded by the author of the novel.
No matter who you're traveling with, I'm sure they'll enjoy whatever audiobook you select for your ride; after all, even my little brother liked the Nicholas Sparks book we listened to on the drive down to Wake this past August!
Personally, I have my eye on a few Emily Giffin (a fellow, former Demon Deacon, and fabulous novelist) audiobooks that I've picked out for my drive back to Wake for sorority recruitment in January.
Happy reading (& listening)!
