Arthur was everyone’s favorite aardvark back in the '90s. He taught us the importance of reading, learning, friends and family. Arthur and his friends, Buster, Francine, Muffy, Brian, Binky and sister D.W. took us on many adventures and explained that people have different backgrounds, personalities, and interests. For 18 seasons and 209 episodes, Arthur was one of the highest rated shows on PBS and the second longest running animated series, behind "The Simpsons."
Ziggy Marley and The Melody Makers sang the catchy opening theme song, “Believe in Yourself.” It’s a reggae-styled funky song with timeless lyrics, that many artists have covered, including the Backstreet Boys and Chance the Rapper. I still blast this song and shamelessly jam to it on repeat. It’s a positive song and it’s impossible to feel sad when you hear it. Here are the lyrics and an explanation of why you should start your day with it on full volume.
Everyday when you're walking down the street and everybody that you meet. Has an original point of view.
Everybody you meet on the street (or campus) might not have the same views or opinions as you, but if an aardvark can understand individuality, so can you.
And I say hey!
What a wonderful kind of day. If you can learn to work and play. And get along with each other...
Every day has potential to be wonderful, especially if you remember work hard, play hard, and get along with each other.
You got to listen to your heart, listen to the beat. Listen to the rhythm, the rhythm of the street. Open up your eyes, open up your ears. Get together and make things better by working together.
Discover what you have to offer by listening you heart and appreciate the chaotic, lively world around you by listening to the rhythm of the street. Working together and making the world a better place starts with opening up your eyes and ears.
It's a simple message and it comes from the heart. Believe in yourself
‘cause that's the place to start.
It really a simple message, believing in yourself and getting along with others isn’t just a lesson to teach kids. But a valuable message to remember everyday.
Jam to the song in your car, work out to it, or listen to it before you start your day, because it’ll motivate you in a positive way that a lot of current popular music won’t.
