Baseball season is upon us, ladies and gentlemen, and y'all know what that means; spending your entire weekend at Baum Stadium. Arkansas baseball is the best of the best, and here's why.
First of all, we have the Hog Pen.
The Hog Pen is the outfield of Baum, and essentially is a giant picnic area. There are picnic tables and grills available (for those who get there first) and you can bring in your own chairs and coolers.Ā
Yes, coolers are allowed in the outfield. So that means you can sit in your lawn chair with some buddies and drink a beer or two ... or three, and watch America's Favorite Pastime take place right in front of you. Honestly, the list should end here, but that is just the beginning.Ā
We are the OmaHogs. We've been to the College World Series several times and came VERY close in the 2012 CWS. In 2013, we even started the season as number 1 thanks to three preseason polls. Baseball tends to always nail a spot in the polls, Thanks, Coach Van Horn!
Our team is also smoking hot.
I mean really, ladies have y'all SEEN Tyler Spoon? *swoon*
Also, the weather is usually awesome. In these first couple of games, it'll be a little cold, but come late March on into April, the weather will be so amazing. Sure, it snowed on May 3, 2013, but in Arkansas, it can happen. So grab a parka before you head on down to Baum.
Baum is one of the prettiest baseball stadiums, especially right at dusk. If you're ever in the Hog Pen at dusk, you get to witness some of the most breathtaking sunsets.Ā
And who could forget sweet little Ribby? Ribby is our mascot, who gives Big Red, Sue E., and Pork Chop a break for the season. He loves to lead the crowd and dance with the RBI girls.Ā
Now that baseball season is upon us, grab a cooler, a lawn chair, and some buddies and head on down to Baum Stadium!
