Why Are People Crying Over K-Pop?

K-Pop is a style of music that is becoming more popular around the world and for some reason, it's making everybody cry.

For people who don't really know what K-Pop is, it's a music genre originating in South Korea that consists of hip-hop, pop, rap, rock, R&B and electronic music. K-Pop can stand for Korean Pop or Korean Popular music. It sounds pretty awesome, right?

The real question is, why do people cry over K-Pop so much? I have a few good ideas why.

THERE, ARE. SO. MANY. MEMBERS. FOR. EACH. GROUP.

(Apeace, K-Pop boy band)

There are many members in K-Pop groups and, I'll admit it, I have an ultimate bias. Bias in K-Pop means you have a favorite member within a K-Pop group. But then there is also a bias wrecker, which is another member in a K-Pop group that also catches your attention and tests your love for your ultimate bias. This sounds like a hard thing to deal with, right?

(RM from BTS)

(V from BTS)

I'm obsessed with the Korean boy band BTS, but RM is my ultimate bias because I love his rapping and his smile is to die for. But I also get distracted by V's singing voice and his eyes, which are honestly driving me bananas! UM, HELP.

LOOK. AT. THEIR. STYLE.

(BTS, K-Pop boy band)

When you first look at a Korean boy band or a girl band, you immediately see that their style is on point! Also, look at their skin! I bet people are wondering how they get it to look so bright and clean! Where can I buy this Korean magic face wash!? Where do they buy their clothes from!? They all look so pretty it's ridiculous!

THEIR. DANCING. IS. INCREDIBLE.

Their voices are like angels flying through the clouds of heaven. Don't believe me? Listen to Sweet Lies by EXO.

As for people like me who don't speak Korean, they make it sound like a beautiful and soothing language. It's so pretty and this alone makes me want to cry. Though let's not forget the subtitles for their music on YouTube because knowing their actual words makes things 30 times more cry-able but in a good way!

Final Thoughts

I can see why K-Pop makes people cry because they are just so amazingly talented and good-looking, to the point where it hurts. Their style draws you in, their music speaks a different language, they dance like there is no tomorrow, and there are so many K-Pop bands to pick from!

I have been listening to so much K-Pop lately and I'm absolutely in love. I recommend people check it out! Listening to different music from different countries, with lyrics in languages other than English is interesting and a good way to broaden your cultural horizons. You might just turn into a K-Pop fan!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
