It’s a problem you almost never hear about, but it is seriously an issue. It happens every day and everywhere, but it is rarely ever heard about or even talked about. It’s a worldwide dilemma that is killing and hurting animals all over.
Animals have feelings, too; they hurt just like us humans. It is looked at as a serious crime when a parent hits their child, but if a human were to even lay hands on a pet in a cruel way, it’s handled very differently.
Animals that are abused are traumatized like people who are abused. Ever been in a shelter and see a dog that was abused? They are petrified of human contact because they are afraid of what might happen.
It's heartbreaking.
When you think of animal abuse, you think of cats and dogs, right? Those aren't the only species getting mistreated. It can go from hamsters, birds, and guinea pigs, all the way to elephants, lions, and tigers.
All getting mistreated and abused just because they are easy to access to take anger out on? Also won't get penalized for it?
Not okay.
Animals like dogs are one of the most abused out there, typically through breeding and dog fights. Now if you're anything like me, even the thought of it will bring rage and anger all throughout your body like no other.
Like honestly, how could you ever lay hands on a sweet little puppy, kitten or any baby animal, or even older animals that want nothing but peace for the rest of their little lives?
There's a quote by Ellen DeGeneres that relates to this. “If you want to test cosmetics, why do it on some poor animal who hasn't done anything? They should use prisoners who have been convicted of murder or rape instead. So, rather than seeing if perfume irritates a bunny rabbit's eyes, they should throw it in Charles Manson's eyes and ask him if it hurts.”
It puts into perspective of what these animals go through each and every day.
For example, there are animals all around us living off of the wild. My aunt just bought a dog from a shelter that spent this past winter living off of tin foil, sticks and trash to survive in the woods because someone didn't want her anymore. So they threw her out on the street.
If you ask me, that isn't a way to live. Thankfully, she made it through her journey and she now gets unstoppable love from her new family.
I look up to those people who do that kind of stuff every day, helping animals in need. It truly inspires me to see they care about animals as much as I do.
Just to think there are animals out there struggling to live, hurt and needing help. I would take in all animals if I could, just to make sure they don't end up in the wrong hands.
It's time for the mistreatment of animals to become known, and for those who hurt them to realize what they have done.
