Layer 1: The chocolate sauce.
The sauce is all over the place and kind of messy, just like your emotions when you first start to feel that pitter-patter deep inside of you for your crush. It tastes so good and feels so right. Obviously, you have to keep sippin' and see where this could go.
Layer 2: Whip Cream.
The second part of the frappuccino, but still the beginning. Smooth, light, fun, easy. Just like the start of something new (Troy Bolten?). Anyways, this is the honeymoon stage of everything. You never think this amazing feeling will go away, just like the amazing taste of whipped up fatty deliciousness.
Layer 3: The actual chocolate ice cream goodness.
The best part of the frappé. You never want this amazing taste to end. Even if you get a little brain freeze, you work through it. There might even be some ice cubes that weren't crushed up all the way and you have to work through those too. Just like you have to work through the little fights in a relationship. You get through these little bumps in the road because you know how much you mean to each other and potentially how happy you guys can be together. You never want it to end because it tastes and feels so good.
Layer 4: The cold chocolate chips at the bottom of the cup.
All that's left after the frappuccino is gone: cold, lost, broken-up chocolate chips. Just like a broken heart, this is the only thing left after a hard breakup. But, maybe there is a little hope that you can get through this, that you can fit those chocolate chips uo the straw and get the last taste of love. But, then you start to think, is this little feeling of happiness worth the sadness I will feel if it's all gone? It will never taste the same as the chocolate ice cream and will possibly only make you feel worse. You finally realize, if you keep trying to suck up something that doesn't want to be, you shouldn't be trying to force it in the first place.
Layer 5: The empty cup.
Even though this may not be considered a layer, it is symbolic. Why? Because this symbolizes the idea that, like a relationship, when it's over, there is a feeling of nothingness. Your relationship went through so many ups and downs, like layers, but you realize this is finally the end. There is no more to the relationship that either person can offer. It is officially over, done! This isn't all so bad though. There are many different sizes and flavors of frappuccinos in the sea of Starbucks. Maybe next time instead of a venti double chocolate chip frappuccino, you'll get a grande vanilla bean.
