Why I am Thankful for my Roommate

There are good ones, there are bad ones, I was lucky enough to end up with a great one.

Why I am Thankful for my Roommate

In college, it’s kind of hard to live without a roommate. If you are in the dorms you are more than likely going to get one or pay extra not to have one. If you live off campus, chances will be that you need a roommate in order to afford to live off campus. There are good ones and there are bad ones; I am very thankful that I have a great one.

My roommate is a lovely human being with some of the greatest energy you will every experience. It is a very worrying thing if she isn’t smiling. She always has a crazy good energy coming from her. Whether it is about her cat, who is the second favorite, or just life, in general, she never fails to put me in a great mood.

She is always singing. No joke, whether it is a song from the Hamilton soundtrack, or one of her favorite songs that she has put on while she is getting ready. She is always singing and it is probably the greatest thing to hear. That and her talking to her cat, don’t worry we both do it.

She is willing to go get ice cream and candy in our pj’s at 11 at night just to fulfill our cravings. Watching Saturday Night Live, Jimmy Fallon, and Vampire Diaries to procrastinate and laugh. Drink more coffee than is humanly possible because we are pretty sure it runs through our veins. And watching Harry Potter and being able to quote every word of them.

In rehearsal for the Grizzly Marching Band, she again always has that super amazing energy that follows her where ever she goes. She runs to her spot, well it is more like skipping, and waits for instructions with a giant smile on her face. She goes and practices with all her heart, even if the music is making her frustrated, she goes and tries her hardest.

Even when we go grocery shopping and tell each other, “ok no buying something we don’t need.” She still makes it fun.

Whether it is out adventures to Glacier, grocery shopping, or just sitting in our apartment doing homework. I am thankful for her and all the lovely things that come with her, her crazy cat, her singing and her amazing energy. So thank you for being my roommate, letting me take pictures of you, and bringing your crazy energy into my life.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
