If you grew up in Louisiana odds are that you grew up cheering for the Tigers. Bleed purple, live gold, am I right? However, recently people have been dissing the tigers. I get it, this season we have had a rough start. Last season we lost three games in a row, and we all want to have some choice words with Les Miles. I’ve even seen some people saying they would be cheering for their secondary teams this season because they want to cheer for a team that might have a shot. The last time I checked, LSU has a little over a 60% winning percentage and I still like those odds when it comes to game day.
Well, all you fair-weather fans can have your secondary teams. Send all your tiger gear my way, and when we make a comeback and rein our terror again in Death Valley, stay away. Maybe you Negative Nancy’s are our problem anyway. You doubters, you naysayers, you can all stay away.
You people who don’t cheer for LSU, are traitors. Don’t even try to argue this point, if you are FROM Louisiana and you LIVE in Louisiana, but your loyalty lives outside this great state, then maybe you should rethink where you live. When I see you’re A&M, Ole Miss, and even..*shudder* Bama flags flying on PURPLE AND GOLD land…. I want to tear it down.
When the Olympics are going on, who do you cheer for? USA. You ALWAYS cheer for the home team. You cheer for the guys representing YOUR city. YOUR state. YOUR country. You cheer for the guys you went to school with, the guys who come from the same place as you. It’s the American thing to do. So basically, cheering for LSU, when you’re in Louisiana… is the American thing to do. So get with the program, or get out.
I cheer for LSU because I grew up with some of the players, they’re from my town, from my state. Those boys were raised on the same hallowed grounds of this great state we call home. Those players proudly represent MY state, MY home. I’ve been wearing purple and gold since I entered this world. I’ve been singing “geauxxxx tigers” since I could talk. I know I am not the only one either. LSU is one of the ORIGINAL S.E.C charter members, founded in December of 1932.
LSU isn’t just a team, it’s a tradition, a lifestyle, a culture of Louisiana. LSU is a way you were raised, how you spent your Saturday afternoons. It’s the shirts your daddy wore and flag your momma put in front of your house.
So, next Saturday, I’ll be cheering for the home team. How about you?
