Classic Touch: More Than Just An Ordinary Car Wash

Why I Am In Love With My Local Car Wash

Say goodbye to snowy sludge and salt-stained tires because April is here! If you happen to drive a dark-colored car, then you know all too well the pain of keeping your vehicle looking clean. But recently I've been experiencing a new problem: pollen.

If you are anything like me, seeing a yellow sheen of pollen on your car during an early Spring morning can quite possibly be one of the most grimacing sights to start your day. At Wake Forest, we are blessed with a very green campus with lush foliage and lots of seasonal plantings.

Unfortunately, Spring time showers don't always suffice when it comes to rinsing off layers of dirt and pollen that accumulate on your car when parked in designated student lots.

Thankfully, this year I found a car wash to whom I positively love giving my business. Located right off of Reynolda Road on the way to Lowes Foods or Mi Pueblo, my favorite place for car washes is called Classic Touch Auto Wash in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

It's so close to Wake's campus and they do an immaculate job. Not to mention, you are always greeted by the most genuine people who work hard to make your car shine-- shout-out to Adrian for always remembering me!

From all of my experiences at car washes over the years, I can confidently say that Classic Touch stands out; they really go the extra mile to make sure you are beyond satisfied with your experience.

Show your student ID at the desk inside and they'll even give you a student discount on your wash!

Better yet, start a "Classic Club" punch card and after ten washes, get one free!

With reasonable rates, and awesome seasonal & holiday specials, Classic Touch will soon become one of your favorite places in Winston.

I love them so much there that one hot August day last semester I even went and bought a crate of water bottles to pass out to the guys working there because I appreciate them so dearly.

Now, I know what you're thinking: Emilie, this sounds like some sort of sponsored endorsement. Not at all.

Having a car is a big deal to me. I've worked so hard, with countless jobs since I was in middle school, to save up my whole life to have my own set of wheels. I'm also someone who really loves taking care of my big-ticket investments in life, and if that means supporting small business owners at the same time, then that's even better.

To me, there's something very therapeutic about going to Classic Touch. You're having a rough day? Go to the car wash. You need a little pick-me-up? Go to the car wash? Feel like you need to get your life together? Car wash. So while some young women might treat themselves to some retail therapy and splurge on new clothes, I,oddly enough, prefer a nice trip to the car wash.

At the end of the day, I wouldn't go anywhere else besides Classic Touch for a car wash. They are so kind and hard-working, and there has never once even been a time that I drove away feeling like I didn't get my money's worth. I always have a smile on my face, and I assure you that when you visit them, you'll have that same amazing experience as well.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
