When I graduated from high school, I had looked into several different colleges, most of them public universities. I obviously wanted to save money, so I chose to go to the university that was within driving distance and that I had been around most of my life. After two years there, I have to say I am really glad that I decided to leave there and transfer to a private Christian university. Here is five reasons I am glad that I moved here.
- First of all, I’m glad that I moved here because of the fact that I am getting the chance to learn how to be me and who I am as a person. When living under your parent’s roof, you don’t always get to figure out who you are. You are who your parents let you be. And that is not always you. By moving out, I have discovered who I really am. And I really like me.
- Second reason is because the teachers care about me. At my old university, when I was sick, I was told I had to suffer through class and never got to go home. However, here if I’m sick I can just message my teachers, they pray for me and they wish me luck on getting to feeling better. I also can get help with my classes easier!
- You get to know literally everybody! I knew a lot of people at my last university because of my job at the post office on campus, but here? There isn’t a time that I’m walking across campus and I don’t run into someone I know. I love it, because here I can develop deep friendships that I couldn’t develop at my old school.
- I can actually become a part of my community. Where I am now, my entire community comes together and everybody is a part of everything on campus. I can simply walk through Walmart and run into people in the community that I know and have things in common with.
- I have a sense of family when I am in a small town university. Everybody genuinely cares about everyone else and will give them the shirt off their back to help them. Everyone helps each other, whether it be I need quarters for a laundry machine or pulling you out of a ditch (not that I have ever needed either thankfully). Everybody helps everybody.
I am so happy that I left my old university for this one. I have discovered myself, my calling in life, and my future wife. I am so glad that everything has happened the way that it was supposed to this past year. Now, as I am entering my second year here, I have even more friends, know even more people, and am enjoying life to the fullest.
