Why This Year You Should Choose To Be Fearless

After Christmas, comes the New Year and that means New Year’s resolutions. Work out more, read my bible more, eat healthier, spend more time with family, you know how it goes. You say you are going to do something, do it for a week, maybe two and then go back to the life you were living before.

I had a friend last year, that decided to adopt words for the New Year instead of resolutions. Words that you wish to be, words that will change your lifestyle. I love this idea and I am going to take on this challenge this year. I invite you to join with me. Instead of setting goals you know you won’t actually keep, adopt words that will push you to be what you want to be.

Because I am adopting words, I can start to pick up good habits and drop bad ones in my journey to grow and change. We should always be striving to grow and change. Do our part to make our lives just a little bit better. I mean that is the whole point of New Year’s resolutions, right? No one wants to stay stagnant forever.

This year I chose to be fearless.Anxiety stems from fear and I refuse to live my life in fear anymore. I want to do things because I am brave and strong. I want to be fearless and independent. I want to be courageous and not afraid to follow where God leads me this next year. I don’t want to be controlled by what others think of me of by my own perceptions. I want to be open-minded and step out to see the world and learn from other people. I don’t want to be controlled by my anxiety, I don’t want to hide from things because I am afraid. It is okay to be afraid, but I don’t want it to control me or keep me from living a happy life.

This next year is going to be full of growing and strength. I am not going to be afraid to try new things and expand my horizons. I want to get closer to my goals and start reaching some of my dreams. The way that this year went was really discouraging to me but I want to look at my downfalls, or problems, as challenges and not ways that life is trying to attack me. I always try to learn from my experiences, but I want to actually be successful and cheerful about this. Be cheerful about current situations rather than crying and whining about it.

I challenge you to join me and figure out who you want to be and what you have to do to become that. God created you beautiful, brave and joyful. Embrace that and remind yourself that you can do anything you want to. You were created for a purpose and can make a difference.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Syllabus Week As Told By Kourtney Kardashian

Feeling Lost During Syllabus Week? You're Not Alone!

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
