Why I Am Blessed With The Best Housemates Ever
The Keep Calm-O-Matic

When I chose to spend my freshman year in Florence through the Marist Freshman Florence Experience program, I always knew the day would come where I would eventually be at Marist (in Poughkeepsie, that isP. I knew that when the day came to transition back to Marist it was probably going to be tough. New campus, new people, new professors and perhaps the most critical of all --new housemates.

My roommate Megan and I picked our Poughkeepsie housing while in Florence and needless to say, we went in sort of blind. We knew where we wanted to live and that was about it. We decided to go in with just the two of us in hopes of forging six new friendships. We also decided to pick the house with a RA living in it, a decision we were hoping we wouldn't regret. At the time, we had absolutely no idea what we were getting ourselves into, but I can say now that I am so incredibly happy with our decision. It's only been a month, but my housemates are some of my closest friends on campus. Below are 12 reasons why I love my housemates.

1. They are there to pick you up when you are down.

No matter what, they are always there with the best advice and hugs.

2. They get involved with your love life...whether you need help or not.

They are there to help you land your dream man...or tell you when you are making an idiotic mistake.

3. They are always down for a good time.

Which in our case, probably involves food.

4. They always introduce you to new friends.

In my case, you get to meet their British Lad. P.S. I2 MISSES OLLIE

5. They literally always feed you...

Because you clearly need these bad boys at midnight.

6. They will go to soccer games with you, rain or shine.

7. They are more than willing to take a selfie with you anytime, even if it is 8 A.M.

8. They are patient with you, no matter how ridiculous you are acting.

9. They make some pretty awesome door decs.

10. They always have time for a weekly family dinner.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
