What Disney means to me.

"Laughter is timeless, imagination has no age, and dreams are forever." -Walt Disney

Beautiful princesses, Mickey Mouse, Cinderella’s Castle, Main Street, fireworks, and magic. These are just a few ideas that come to mind when one thinks of Disney. However, while these aspects are undoubtedly an important part of every Disney lover's world, I admire Disney for much deeper reasons.

The Disney Company will forever hold a special place in my heart. I grew up fascinated by the exquisite animation and storytelling of Disney movies, as well as the true magic of the Disney parks. Today, I still proudly proclaim my (as some may call it) "obsession" with Disney. Many may think that it is somewhat odd to still be so enamored by Disney as an adult. However, Disney genuinely means so much more to me than fairytales, fantasy, and Mickey-shaped foods. In fact, as each year passes, I grow increasingly captivated by the entirety of the Disney Company for their representation of family, imperative life lessons, and extreme attention to detail.

I believe the true essence of Disney is family. Walt created Disneyland with his family in mind, as he wanted an amusement park where parents and children could have fun together. I am so grateful to him because a lot of my favorite memories with my family have been made on Disney vacations. My parents, sisters, and I spend a whole week together without worrying about the outside world. We have time to focus on our bond as a family. Not to mention, we spend every second of our vacation together enjoying our favorite rides, shows, and restaurants. Our biggest concern is if we should see "Fantasmic" or "Wishes." We can escape from reality for a while and realize what really matters; family.

My all-time favorite Walt Disney quote is “All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.” Personally, every time I read this quote I become motivated with a new sense of determination and self-confidence. We have the potential to make even the wildest of dreams come true if we simply have faith. Yes, life can be scary and there is much uncertainty, but if we believe in ourselves we can accomplish the unimaginable. Whether you admit it or not, isn’t that what we all want? To have those unrealistic, yet hopeful dreams come true? In addition to this one quote, Disney provides such important messages to people of all ages. While the idea of "dreaming" and "never growing up" may sound cheesy to some, it serves as an important reminder for me. When life gets hard, keep dreaming. Keep pushing forward, believing in yourself, and reaching your goals. Life is daunting and can be very serious at times. However, Disney reminds us that is perfectly okay to have fun! As we grow older, we do not have to constantly be bound by the rules of society. We can find happiness in ourselves, our family, and perhaps, even a mouse.

Lastly, I love Disney's attention to detail. Have you ever heard of Disney Easter Eggs? If not, I highly recommend that you research them because your mind WILL be blown. In short, the Disney animators add their personal touches in the background of Disney movies. Some are more obvious than others, but it has become something that I absolutely look forward to with the release of each new movie. In addition, if you have ever been to a Disney park or resort, you know how perfectly it is decorated, down to the very last details. That goes for attractions, too! I could spend hours walking the queue lines, riding the actual ride, and strolling around exit area just admiring all of the detail work that you could miss if you simply pass by. Disney does not do anything halfheartedly, and every is done with a significant purpose in mind for its audience.

My love for Disney has transformed over the years from a childlike enchantment into a true appreciation for the company and the core values it exemplifies. Without a doubt, I know that I will always be thankful for Disney and the lessons it has instilled in me.

Dear High School Friend Group,

My sweet angels, where would I be without you guys. We all grew up together because we either met in middle school or high school and watched each other grow up and get "old." We got to go to prom together and then graduate together. Then watched each other as we continued our lives in college, joining sororities and meeting people who will impact our lives forever. It all has happened so fast.

Oh college, we can’t live with you, but we can’t live without you. It’s a love/hate relationship, really. College is an experience that no one can ever prepare you for, and maybe that’s a good thing. You never really expect any of the things that college encompasses until you are there. College is fun, but don’t have too much fun. C’s get degrees, but they don’t get you into graduate school.

Blair Waldorf

The "Gossip Girl" series may be over, but Blair Waldorf's iconic character lives in our hearts forever. Blair was the queen of the Upper East Side, and a character you either loved or hated. She taught us everything we needed to know about life, love and of course, how to score a Chuck Bass. So the next time you feel a bit lost and are in need of guidance, look no further than to the Queen B herself.

As I spend my Sunday avoiding my homework and other adult responsibilities, I realized that I've watched this series over and over about a million times. Sadly, there isn't a Blair quote I don't know, so I came up with a list of a few favorites. You know you love her...xoxo
