It’s coming up folks; the one, the only, March Madness.
Any basketball lover will tell you how exciting of a time March really is. There are only a couple of days left until the mania begins. For those of you that take March Madness very seriously, I’m sure you’ve been checking Bracketology every day (and maybe even more than once a day).
For the most part, the teams have stayed put in their designated spots, which may be essential to some fans based on the location the game is played. For example, Villanova is expected to play at Buffalo in the first round. For any of you willing to buy a ticket and make the drive, go for it; it is in fact a once in a lifetime experience.
What makes you most excited for March basketball? Is it the making of loads of brackets? And if you do, do you make them just for fun to see how you did, or do you join a pool with your friends and bet some cash? My favorite thing about March Madness is how after the first day of play, ESPN and Tournament Challenge sends out a notification telling you exactly what percentage of people’s brackets are perfect. I remember last year getting that notification as I was getting out of a softball practice and the percentage was in the single digits, somewhere below 5%, and I laughed out loud knowing people who bet a boat-load of money are probably regretting some of their choices.
But how ‘bout those upsets?! Seeing a non-favorited team come on out top and beat a top-ranked team is what keeps this madness going! I mean, would it really be called March MADNESS if there were no upsets? You see, that’s what keeps this going. That’s what makes this month so exciting for sports fanatics. Upsets baby. They will mess your brackets up and cost you all that money, but they are incredible to watch. Sometimes it pays off to root for the underdog.
