There are so many negative influences in today's society, it isn't a wonder why our girls are growing up the way they are. I have heard several people lately state that middle school girls are growing up too fast as they are wearing tons of make-up, shopping at Victoria's Secret, wearing tight clothes, and dating high school seniors. I seriously wish someone would've explained to me how to skip that awkward stage of wearing T-Shirts with the words Hollister and Abercrombie printed on the front, of having crease lines in my hair from attempting to straighten it, of wearing bright purple eye shadow and somehow thinking that it matched my bright red lipstick, of playing ZAP and having to ask out your crush and secretly hoping that they would say yes, of having giant flip phones to text on and memorizing the numbers that went with the letters, of thinking wearing water stained UGG boots were cool, and of struggling to try your longest to not wear that embarrassing bra your mom bought you. Tell me children, how did you skip that? Well, with role models like Miley Cyrus, the Kardashians, Taylor Swift, Kate Upton, Teen Moms, Nicki Minaj, and Rihanna, it's no wonder why some girls are acting the way they do. These role models, and the fact that media everywhere is telling girls how they should look, act and be, are influencing the girls to skip growing up, and become adults way too fast. Instead of looking up to these crazy people, here are ten women I believe our future generation needs to look up to.
10. Beyonce
She may be a little older than what young girls might want to look up to, however she is exactly what every powerful women should be. Her style is always classy and never reveals too much. She also writes very powerful music that everyone should listen to, as she is the "Queen Bee." She also isn't stick skinny like several young celebrities today, and yet she is still considered beautiful. Her career began from her own inspirations, hard work and dedication and she can ACTUALLY sing -- unlike a lot of singers today.
9. Emma Stone
Not only does she act in movies that are inspiring, she is also one who dresses classy when on the red carpet and is the reason her career in acting even began. It has been rumored that she created a PowerPoint presentation for her parents to watch to convince them to move to Hollywood and start her acting career. Emma also attended college to advance her acting -- hard work at its finest. She hasn't be corrupted by childhood stardom, even though she began acting at the mere age of 11. Emma is always her goofy self, and always remembers to thank her family -- and brother -- for every award she accomplishes. Her flashing red hair is also a bonus to her awesome personality.
8. Jennifer Lawrence
Jennifer took the world by storm when she took the role of Katniss in the Hunger Games Franchise. She made sure the role never strolled far from the actual character, and didn't want to glamorize the girl by making her cut and beautiful when she was supposed to be rugged and stressed. Off camera, Jennifer is hilarious and makes all of her co-workers fall in love with her with her humor. She always talks about food and how she'd rather be at home in sweatpants, and doesn't pretend to be someone she is not. I'm sure all of us remember the time she fell and screamed a not so nice word while she was walking to accept her award. Jennifer knows mistakes happen and she's okay with them. She is also so dedicated to her work that she dyed her hair so much that it started to fall off, leaving her to wear a wig in her final hunger games movie. Jennifer is also seen as trying to avoid Photoshopping, so young girls everywhere know they can be beautiful no matter what body type they may possess. Jennifer never forgets her biggest fans that stood by her from the start and shares her fame with them anytime she can. School was something very important to her as she finished high school two years early -- before she started acting. Amazing.
7. Emma Watson
I'd be a fool not to include this wonderful woman in my list. Not only is she a beautiful woman -- no matter how she wears her hair and how she dresses -- she is also an inspiration to young girls everywhere. She is always classy everywhere she goes and is not afraid to be herself -- a huge thing us fans saw when she decided to cut off all of her hair when Harry Potter ended. Shockingly, when her acting career ended after the final Harry Potter was released, she decided to go to college instead of swimming in the millions I'm sure she made. She valued education and showed young girls everywhere that being smart can be way sexier than just being beautiful. One of her main goals in life is to also promote female empowerment and gender equality, even though she didn't need to bother as her acting career is aspiring enough. She is a beautiful person inside and out and seeks to make everyone smile not only in her films, but also in life. She was ambitious from a young age and strives to show young women everywhere how they can be independent and follow their dreams, no matter how big or large they seem to be.
6. Holland Roden
One of my absolute favorites is this actress that is well known as Lydia in the series Teen Wolf. In the series, Roden is a strong, independent and extremely intelligent girl who gets whatever she wants. Her style is also very unique and that seems to carry out to her not on camera self. She is always thanking her fans on social media and saying how she could not be where she was without them. She is also naturally beautiful -- they cover her in dirt and have her with no make up in the show, but she is still flawless. Roden, although fully involved in her acting career, is also enrolled as a full time student and cares greatly about her education. Her major -- which she changed from science -- ended up in Women's Studies and she graduated from the impressive college of UCLA. During all of this, she remained loyal to all of her co-workers and gives them shout-outs every now and then through social media sites. She is spunky and funny and someone young girls should consider looking up to.
5. Veronica Roth
The only female author on Forbes' celebrity list is 25-year-old Veronica Roth. She is well known as the author of young adult dystopian trilogy "Divergent," which she started writing on winter break during her senior year at Northwestern University. She wrote a novel that everyone should read and become empowered by, at a very young age and during college none the less! If she can do it, then any other young women out there can do it as well.
4. Shailene Woodley
This girl is beautiful in a different way and inspires young girls all around the world. In her movie, The Fault in Our Stars, she helps gain awareness for cancer and shows that it is more important to be beautiful on the inside than on the outside. She also helps to prove that it is okay to be yourself and anyone can love someone, no matter how much baggage they may carry with them. She is also very pro the environment and promotes anything that can help keep the Earth clean. She is into anything organic and is always her true self on and off stage. She has been working on her acting since she was young, starting on ABC family, to be a positive role model for young girls everywhere. She may not have her public speeches down yet, but she has stayed true to herself and roots, even through all the fame.
3. Meghan Trainor
Meghan Trainor is an American singer-songwriter and record producer. Trainor wrote, recorded, performed and produced three independently-released albums between ages 15 and 17. In 2011, she signed a publishing deal with Big Yellow Dog Music, and pursued a career in songwriting. She did everything on her own and that is something all young girls should admire. Not only that, but she is also a beautiful girl who isn't a stick-skinny model! She sticks to her style, no matter how many times people tell her to change, and continues to write the same style music, making everyone fall in love with her. She loves herself and encourages girls to love themselves as well and has her own style to tag along with it.
2. Demi Lovato
Demi Lovato survived a very low point in her life to come out on top by having a fantastic new album, a number one song, and judging the X factor, all by the age of 21. She isn't perfect, but claims to love herself in-spite of that and what everyone else says. She also is a huge advocate for those who suffer from self harm and is always there to lend support for any fan in need. She has adapted her own, punk style that is rarely accepted in today's world. She rocks it every time she is on stage, and always puts her fans before everyone else. She is awesome and perfect role model for girls aspiring to keep distance from the normal and go with their own flow.
1. Cara Delevingne
Delevigne is a fashion model, and the face of Burberry's Beauty campaign. She was previously the face of Burberry's spring/summer 2012 campaign and spring/summer 2011 campaign. She has been featured in advertising campaigns for other brands including H&M, Zara and Chanel. She also appeared on the catwalk for brands such as Moschino, Jason Wu, Oscar de la Renta, Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi and Stella McCartney. Delevingne was on the covers of Vogue UK, Vogue Korea, i-D, Love, Russh, Jalouse and Style.com's Spring 2013 issue. She walked down the catwalk as a model at the 2012 Victoria's Secret fashion show. She has done so much at such a young age and isn't what you would expect a typical model to look like. Cara has also been claimed to have a very bubbly personality that many people love -- especially when she photobombs during these events. She also promotes the stoppage of young people on social media as it allows for bullying to occur -- especially for kids way too young. She is also always positive so she can receive positive energy in return and loves the idea of love. She should be an inspiration to all as she is beautiful inside and out -- and her eyebrows are just amazing.
