Who Wrote Better Material

"I read the news today oh boy, about a lucky man who made the grade" John Lennon, A Day in the Life. Those words are the opening lyrics to the last song on Sgt. Pepper Lonely Hearts Club Band. A lot of people hear those lyrics and believe it is the greatest lyric of all time because it shows how people lived in the 50s and 60s. Beatles fans alike always have an opinion on who is their favorite Beatle.

Growing up, I loved music, I knew about the Beatles at a very young age, but I really didn't get into them until 5th grade. My choir sang Sgt Pepper Lonely Hearts Club Band. The more I listened to the Beatles the more I wanted to hear their material past Sgt. Pepper and even hear their solo material. I fell in love with Sgt. Pepper in May of 2007 and by August of 2007, I asked for Rubber Soul for my Birthday, I have seen Paul McCartney 3 times and Ringo Starr 2 times.

At first, John was my favorite Beatle because I liked how he wrote about what he was feeling and wrote great political material. My favorite Beatle song was " In My Life", but the more I listened to McCartney, the more fun I had listening to his music. To me, McCartney was all about having fun and enjoying his fans.

In A Day in the Life, Paul wrote a section that reads, "I woke up, Got out of Bed, Dragged a comb across my head." So in my opinion, Paul is writing for a day in the life of children.

The more I listened to Paul's Music, the more i understood what Paul was saying and futhermore, became a Paul Fan more than a John Fan. Still Love John, but Paul is my favorite

That was the great thing about The Beatles. Anyone can be a fan of The Beatles and it wouldn't seem weird.

If you had a 4-year-old who was into Black Sabbath and that kids parents didn't like Black Sabbath, that would seem a little strange, but with the Beatles. Anyone can really get into it.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
