Who Will Pay for Trump's Wall?

I don't want to start an argument about whether or not it is necessary for our President, Donald Trump to build a wall on our southern border. Or at least, yet. I do however, worry about the cost and where we will get that money. During the campaign, Mr. Trump said that he plans to have the government of Mexico to pay for the wall. Immediately after he said that when he launched his campaign in June of 2015, the former President of Mexico, Vicente Fox said that Mexico "will not pay for that fu***** wall." I don't think it was only me who believed that was a pretty strong statement. After he made that statement, questions loomed to whether or not he could actually get Mexico to pay for the wall. It wasn't until this past week that he finally released his plan for "Mexico" to pay for the wall. He wants to essentially impose a 20% tariff on companies who import their products to the United States, from Mexico. This is an issue for the consumers of the United States. Despite what Mr. Trump might believe, companies are not going to move from Mexico or decide that it would be better to move to a country where they wouldn't need to pay this tariff, because they have an easier and more effective method to make this money. They will simply charge their United States customers 20% more. In other words, it is not companies paying for the wall...and it is certainly not the government of Mexico. It’s us, the United States consumers. I encourage you to look into this deal he just made. It will ruin our relationship with Mexico. It will ruin the United States’s economy. My fellow Americans…it is necessary to ask ourselves…do you want to pay for the wall? Do you want to spend an undisclosed amount of money to confirm President Trump’s fantasy that illegal immigration is at its peak? I certainly don’t. And just for the record, Mexico won't. So it is all on you, the American people.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
